Okay thanks for that info Phil, im aware you were a bit sceptical about it when the first guy came one saying he was getting it mapped by Jabba. Saying they were quiet aggressive(by this im guessing the power comes in very suddenly?) I have asked them to aim for around 200bhp and a similar torque figure, Id be happy with that I dont want to be chasing high figures for things to go wrong in a few years time.

I'll be sure to get as much info as I can about the map. I have a OBD Data logger so I am going to log readings off the car to see what actully changes and how before and after things differ. I have asked them many questions already and have been pleased with the responeses.

Thanks

Also jabba is quite an aggressive tuner and i wouldnt wana risk everything for 20bhp not when revo have got an engine map and a dsg map.

I don't think the DSG map has been complete yet mate and Revo are also a pretty aggressive tuner, they always seem to have the highest figures.

I have only ever driven TDI Jabba mapps and they have always been VERY agressive with boost delivery.

I was onlys supprised you getitng it done by Jabbas as they seemed to be doing less and less in the VW market and doing more racing car prep.

Ask them about the misfiring problem and mention revo has re written the vw engine management code and not just the performance part with the aim to avoid bore wash and therefore piston ring faliure. Ive only got the info that revo officially wanted me to know. Would be worth knowing a different tuners take on the causes of this problem.

They have a section on here, you could ask them on it and get a forum wide response then but I will ask them about it for you.

Presumably they'll have to work that out if they're starting from scratch, rather than from a known starting point (eg Dimsport)

I know that the tuners that own/owned cars did a lot of work long term on them prior to code release - so I would hope that the OP isn't going to have the whole thing wrapped up in a few days. I'm sure they'll use a Dimsport (or whoever) as a starter map, then modify it from there so to save wasting their time.

There aiming for four days but I dont mind leaving it with them longer if its for the best. Will have to wait and see.

Was asking that because they are probably more willing to tell you rather than publicly write it on here. It is an important part of the map. Thats how revo melted a piston. Took a while to develop the new code and my car has only misfired once in 1.4k with the new code. That could be down to the oxygen sensor or damaged rings from before so will find out next week. Was misfiring regularly before though so its certainly worked.

Agreed, most companies write a modified map for these guys to work with when they try to tune the car.

I know i've got quite a few on my laptop at work :D

You are right, they haven't done the DSG map yet. I've been bugging Kev and Carl for them to get on with it but they have other projects to finish first. They said that they would be starting in the new year although I wouldn't hold your breath for anything before march 2012.:(

With out sounding funny bud but i don't need to back up my claims because everyone is doing it for me.

At the end of the day its your car but im just showing you my point of view. I just wouldnt do it.

If thats directed at me, Im asking You For more info, not coz i dont belive you, its the internet, dont get so wound up about it 'bud'

No offense but youve came across pretty rude where as others have hade thier points in a normal manner.

Using VCDS it drags up the last time the PCM was written to and how many times it can also show erronious settings compared to a stock map and how far out it is

Kool Thanks for that. Well all being well im still going down tues. Hopefully the he who dares approach will work out for me

Jay,

By no means did I want to come across as rude, the only problem with text on a page is you cannot tell the emotion behind it.

People throughout the thread have been expanding and backing up my points such as Nutkin.

I just know how much people care for there cars and using an owners car to test software just seems like a bad idea too me.

In know way do i mean any offence to you pal and I do not by all means want too be rude, afterall this is a friendly forum.

I hope all goes well and the Jabba boys look after you

Good Luck

Adz

Hey Micallef, lol, Fancy seeing you here now you've got the Leon.

Well I drove the car down yesterday to meet the guys @ Jabba, Nice workshop and friendly bunch. They did data logging yesterday to make sure cars behaving as it should and so they can see how the map effects it on the road and spent the rest of the day finding the various maps ect.

This morning the car had its first standard dyno Run, was done in 4th and they advised that due to the DSG its difficult to get a good reading for the first few hundred rpm as obviously it kicks down ect. They've done some runs in 4th and goes to just over 180bhp at about 5750rpm flattens slightly holding around 180 until around 6600rpm then slowing dropping off as it reaches the redline.

They are going to do another standard run in 5th to see if that makes any differences.

Jay

It only kicks down if you press the kickdown. You get 100% throttle without kickdown, so they can dyno in any gear

On occasion it has kicked down on me in manual when i havnt hit the KD.

They did more runs in 5th as there dyno advised gear wasnt optimum ,and got more stable readings and they have put there map on it and its ran 211bhp and 205ftlb torque, they have been doing road tests and mpg cruises ect to make sure all is well as well as editing some more paramaters/ maps
