Right... cracked another sump, yay. anyways... im going to be buying a shallow sump from al at Awesome GTI, the problem is.. there not exactly THAT much smaller? are they?

if its only a few inches.. i wouldnt feel properly protected, is there a company that does a metal sump gaurd?? as id rather have both protections.

On springs :/ want coilys but cannot get them at the moment - as unemployment lol

a sump guard wont work will it????? as u will be putting it even lower to the floor

i was silly low and i got a awsome shallow sump , they are 2.5cm shallower but trust me it is actually alot , that is the lowest point some parts of the sump are even shallower , get a shallow sump and lift it slightly i did by 10mm so i gained nearly 3.5 cm

Its lower on the front than it is the back, i like the height of it at the front, but i want to take the back down to make it level.. but i have to get coilovers, at that point i will take it up a little bit, seems like its gona be a long while till i get them

Where's a good price on shallow sumps? Are they baffled too?

Ive tried to get a best price from Al at awesome GTI but he cant do anything with the price due to them being imported from the states, so your £131 i think it is for it

Ill be phoning him up tomorow i think.. might do my forged rods when they arrive at the same time saves me faffing about opening it up twice, and just drive it occasionally, and sensably till i get coilys.

wel it was 20 mm lower than this here but i kept catching things lol i eventually wore my splitter out

What is the difference with a baffled one that its gave you no problems compared to a normal one?

Think it's the fact that they are 2.5cm shallower not that there baffled that helps.... Baffling stops the oil moving around, stops oil surges or bearings running without oil (correct me if I'm wrong please as not a mechanic ;p)

I got quoted £60 to get a sumpguard made up (mates rates but I can't see any other fabricators being too much more than that?), going to get it done next time I'm up north. In the mean time lifted the front 30mm and not had any problems since and I've clocked up a good few thousand miles since then...

this happend to me last year
