Im about to install reverse parking kit I bought.
Im going to drill in the lower black part of the rear bumper for the sensors, and pass the wires through the inside of the bumper
I have two questions before I start working on it
1. can anyone tell me which wires exactly are those of the reverse light?
2. I need to have access to the inside of the bumper from the trunk, what is the best/easiest way for doing so?
I'll be very happy if anyone can add photos or sketchs of what exactly needs to be done for those two questions of mine

Thank you very much!
Eran.

Not sure which are the reverse light wires - on an SC you will need to head for the passenger side - on a 5 door you could pick either side.

I would go from the bumper in to the trunk using the same gromet as the number plate light wires ( saves drilling any more holes )

PS - which reverse sensor kit did you go for ?

I have the SC.
Finding which light is the reverse light its not a problem of course, i just insert to reverse and look at the reflection on some other car :)
In order to get to the license plate area, There's a plastic at the middle of the trunk, but I couldnt get to see how to disassemble it, it has no screws.
the only screws there, are those in the middle which is used for the door lock, and it seems like those screws doesnt hold the plastics

Sensors is on my list of jobs to do when the weather gets warmer.

I would take the bumper off to do the sensors - it's not that hard and only takes around 10 mins.
Then you can work on the bumper easily and tie the sensor wires in to the back of the bumper for safety.
Whilst the bumper is off you can then see where the number plate light wires go in to the car and follow them in with your sensor wires.

Seems like the optimal solution to take it off, but the wires of the license plate, dont I need to take them off before I remove the bumper?

anyway, the thing is..I dont have any private parking space that I can work with such pleasure, the car is parked in the street.
I can take the driller out with a long wire, but starting to disassemble the bumper seems like too much,
I also read somewhere else that it can be done without taking the bumper off
I guess its something I'll see through working on it.

Do you know how I can identify the two wires of the reverse light, once I have the wires attached to the rear light?

There is only ONE wire you need to find for reverse light - the positive wire.

The other wire on the sensor is just EARTH.

All I can suggest to identify the positive wire is to put the car in to reverse and check wires with a multimeter.

I am having an educated guess here but on the drivers side - there is a wire missing from one of the positions in the 6 pin plug going to the light.
I would guess that the same position wire on the passenger side is the reverse wire.

Thats clever :)
Thank you for your effort,
I just made my order for the sensors kit yesterday, so I guess it'll arrive only in about 2weeks or so.
in the meanwhile, I'll try and have a look how (& if possible) to pass the wires in to the trunk without disassemble the entire bumper.

more questions will be raised when it arrives.
I'll try to take some photos of the process for other drivers which want to do it themselves

A minor update..
I know its double-posting, though its a new relevant information;
I went to see if I really need to take apart the bumper, as I dont have torx that can fit the thin space between the bumper & the wheel.
So there's absolutely no need in that,
You can take the wires inside to the trunk fairly easy:
1. take the carpet off (the one that covers the spare wheel)
2. pull up the plastic, there's no clips or anything, it sits on a track and can be pulled up easily with no resistance
3. there's two black square plastics, you just need to push it a little and then take it back inside easily so it wont drop inside the bumper..
from the hole that these two plastics are covering the wires can be pulled in easily - you can push inside your hand and access the entire interior of the bumper

it seems like the only "issue" now is to think whats the easiest way to place the wire of the digital display (where to hide it)

Interesting, i will eventually be doing this on my new Corsa, however i intend to take the bumper off as the marking are already there.

If you have the time whilst you're doing it perhaps make a quick guide with pics for other people to follow?
As for the digital display, if you're going to put it above the rear window then run it up the pillars and along the headlining :)?

I dont really see the reason for taking it off, there's nothing special inside, with a quick look there's nothing there to be harmed in the process.
I really am planning to take detailed pictures and upload when Im done.

About the digital display, I plan to place it somewhere in the front of the car, maybe on the mirror.
I guess I can run the wire trough the space between the front window & ceiling, then through the side of the driver along with the door rubbers...but then I guess i'll see it on-the-fly :)

My only concern at the moment is that the lower black part of the bumper is maybe too low for placing the sensors?
Most sensors "need" 50~ cm for proper reading of the surface, and the lower part of the bumper is maybe 30cm, Im afraid its too low and that the sensors will have false reads of the road itself..
I saw a few ibiza's sensors installed there, but im still suspicious.

I think the main reason to take the bumper off would be to see where the marks are for the factory fit, the bumper is meant to be marked on the inside for the sensors.....

I bought a generic 20$ kit from ebay, hopefuly it will get the job done...
I heard from a few people I know that they didnt have any issues with them,
in the worst case, if something goes wrong I can buy a spare kit, its still much cheaper than the cost from a dealer, which gets over 120$ for getting someone to install the same 20$ kit..

I'd post the link but I cant since I dont have enough posts =)

The kit finaly arrived today.
I checked at home that everything works well, and so it seems.
The lcd's buzzer was awfuly strong, so I put tape on it with a tiny hole, which made a lower sound, which is strong enough to hear but wont make you deaf:rolleyes:
I have an exam on thursday, hopefuly I'll install it on the same day.
The only issue I currently have not solved is that the power wire seems to be too short, so ill have to make it longer myself, and Im not sure where exactly to place the control box.

I installed the kit today.
It wasnt too hard, sadly I dont have much photos but I can give a full detailed explenation up to the wiring level with the back light.

I couldnt take much photos as i only had my phone with me at the moment, and a friend came to look how I do it..so i didnt notice i barely take photos

First thing to do is open the back door, and take off the carpet, this will reveal the spare wheel.
There's a plastic that covers the trunk "enterance", right where the latch for the door is (the plastic surrounds it), it can be lifted up very easily. there's like a tiny pin that holds it at the buttom, if you look down you can see how to take it out.
once its out, you see two square filters, which is pressed aligned at the same position of the license plate. its sitting there tight with like klips, you need to hold it carefuly, push a little towards your direction (like into the rear bumper, which is to your body's direction), but be careful not to let go because it can fall down inside and you'll need to start looking for it :)
once you managed to push it, rotate it in such angle that you'll manage to take it out of the bumper, or towards the front seats if it makes it any clearer.
put it in the side at the moment.
from the two square holes you now see, its easy to take the wires into the trunk once you drill in the bumper.
those squares are big enough to push your arm inside, till the elbow if you're in the right angle.
now, once we have access to pass the sensors wires, lets start drilling...
I decided to treat the bumper as 114cm long, so it wont be too much to the sides, where the plastics get a big short and i didnt want to screw up with the holes.
if its 114cm long, so the distance between sensors is 114/3=38cm. it causes the most left / right sensors be at the middle of the red light reflector. the easier way will be taking a line directly from the back door latch, mark it and take 19cm in each direction, and then another 38 in each direction. mark it carefuly. for the actual drilling, the best is to press down the driller on the place you wish to make the hole and only then press the power button. because its plastic it will go right in with no mistakes.
I took a photo after finishing this stage:

Once we have the holes ready, you can press down the sensors and take the wires into the trunk. just pass the wires through those plastic square filters you took off earlier, and bring it back to its place. I took extra caution and took all the wires and holded them together with the license plate wire, so it will be tight enough and wont fall down somewhere near the exhaust.

The second part took me a few minutes till i solved it out. of course, we're talking about the electricity part.
I dunno if in UK/similar the reverse bulb is located in the left or right, for my car its on the right.
Disassemble the lights is very easy, all you need to do is open the trunk, and see that right where the light is, theres a plastic switch, you just rotate it till it gets loose and push the light out with your hands. be careful, it has one klip on its buttom-right, so if it feels stuck, which is what that happened to me, just take something thin and push it inside so it'll lift it up a little, and then it will get out for sure.
the light is connected to a set of wires with a klips, just press and pop it out of its place, it will go out fairly easy.
there are 5 actual wires and one extra hole in the plug, and they're all marked with numbers (its written on the plug itself).
When I got to this stage, I disassembled the left light too and saw that number 4 isnt plugged, so I assumed its the one which is the reverse light on the right, and indeed it is.
Number 4 is the positive wire, and number 6 is the minus, which is one wire for all the bulbs there.
Number 4 / + is a green-blue wire, and 6 / - is brown.
You should expose a tiny bit of each of them somewhere in the middle of the wire.

Now we need to pass the power from the control box to the rear light. this isnt a hard task either. First, we need to take one of the screws in the trunk out. The trunk is equipped with 4 'rings' for the safety net, this net hooks are attached to four such rings. you need to remove, of course, the one which is located near the rear light. its a big-size torx screw, but I managed to remove it with regular | screwdriver. once its out, you can carefuly lift the carpet cover from its corner, push your hand inside, and from the top part of it, with your second hand, push the power wire (the side with the plug, of course!) through the tiny hole in the carpet around the place where you removed the rear light switch earlier. push it until you catch it with your second hand at take it down to the part of the spare wheel. the other side of the wire push through the hole you have there so it'll join the electricity wires. now just wire it up..the red wire with the +/number 4/green-blue and the black-red with -/number 6/brown wire. make sure to isolate it well in case of water. now its a good time to test the system and plug the electricity to the control box, attach the lcd /buzzer and turn the switch on and push the gear knob to reverse, see that the system powers up, if not, you must have screwed up earlier :(
Now, gently push back the light to it place and put the switch on, twist it so it catch the light hard enough. make some order with the wires and hold then down with something tight, so it wont get loose. I placed the control box near the spare wheel with a two-sided tape, so it sits tight and seems like a very clean work. you can now also bring back the safety-net ring and put it in its place, together with the plastic cover (the one around the door latch)

The last part will be to take the sensors display from the dashboard back to the trunk. that is also not a difficult task. I installed it in the driver's side.
What you need to do is first take off the fuze cover and the side cover, once both exposed, place the display somewhere you wish and press the wire into the small gap between the dashboard and the window, there's a gap there, big enough for the wire. once inside, just take it all the way down through the side-cover you took of earlier and press it always inside the plastics, its very easy and can be down with you fingers. I just took it this way through the plastic on the floor-side, till the belts area, and from there on the side of the seat.
Somewhere at the area of the back speaker, i couldnt put my hands inside because it was too small for me, so the wire can be seen with eye but can barely be reached so i dont worry for any damage to it from the kids or anything similar.
Now just take the seat off (just try to lift it) and pass the wire beneath it, then push it through the gap between the back of the seat, and Wallla! Its in the trunk. just take it nicely all the way to the place of the control box and connect it.

I didnt had time for some photos or deep examniation of things, Its just a few hours since I did it.
I also took this photo:

each one from my family who saw it thought I installed it in some expert place, it looks very good and also working very well. doing reverse is hard in some conditions because of the shape of the car, I dont have any feeling of the distance because of that.
The kit I bought cost 15$ in eBay, and seems to be doing the job very well. We'll see in time how it lasts and its liability.
Since the low cost, I will order another kit for backup, just to have the spare parts...for this price, cant argue with it.
Anyway, I hope you will find this data useful, Im supposed to be asleep right now :p
For any more questions or photos, please ask away and I'll try to do my best.
