Update :)

Right a few things to update on..

I'll start with the smaller item, but a sweet looking one! I got round to Darren's this afternoon and he showed me how the mani cover is coming along and boy it looks sweet as! Did a trial fit and it looks really good. Really recommend him if anyone wants theirs doing :D

You may also notice in the 2nd pic there that the SFS tip has now been fitted. Car feels great spools hard low down and pulled like a train on the way home. Happy happy...

AND.. I kind of have kept this one on the low but I bought a very good condition Piper cat-back which I KNOW sound awesome from my previous LCR. So I bought it! It was fitted today at AmD in no time along with the tip. This exhaust sounds so good with my Milltek decat and 3" downpipe. Doesn't drone at all in 5th or 6th at dual carriageway or motorway cruising speeds. Very happy! The Piper burbles and pops and I've heard alot of both just today so my aim here has been achieved. The Milltek cat-back I had one is awesome quality and does have it's own sound, but I wanted more... I will have to find it a new home along with the B5 V1 tip now.

Few pics and a quick video of the exhast (couldn't be too loud with the revving as my next door neighbours have a baby which does sleep during the day, annoying but oh well I think this was enough noise for today)

Also caught up with Maz at AmD which was nice and he took me out in his 335D which has a seemingly 'wall of torque' which pins you in the seat... It is over 400+ lb/ft so it's no surprise but surprising smoother than expected. Very impressive stuff.

All in all a good day for the old girl, so tomorrow she will be cleaned providing I'm not hungover

Looking really smart, the exhaust sounds good, I can't wait to get my 3" DP and get rid of my milltek race cat.

Cheers mate :)

Are you going decat?

You kept that quiet, good going matey sounds the nuts!!!

Cheers mate! I know I didn't want to spill until it was on and I was happy with it. You'll hear it soon at the RR day :)

Paint the inside of the tip black so its not shiney :) lol..

Looks and sounds good tho :)

Haha I know mate it's too clean the inside of the tip! I might leave that part when cleaning, lol.

Chees though, I'm happy with it.

Lol im just bein picky, i painted mine when i got it and it looked instantly better :)..

Carbon mani cover looks good too, im waiting for mine off the Carbon king too ;)

Yeah I bet it did mate. Did you use heat resistant paint? Nothing wrong with picky I am too lol.

Haha I saw your mani cover today too! They're looking sweet as mate :)

Cheers mate :)

Are you going decat?

I dunno yet, I know a friendly mot tester so could go decat. With the cost of the xs power ones though I was thinking of buying both decat and CAT pipes it would prob still work out cheaper than a pipewerx dp and decat.

Hopefully the sale of my milltek will fund it.

Hi Tom, my first post here I had to register just to comment on this! I've been thinking of a LCR for quite a few months now to replace my Saxo VTR (only my second car and a nice step from my previous 1.2 Clio lol, shame about the Chav image associated with the saxo but a brilliant car none the less, just a little slow for me now) when I turn 21. I'm hoping to treat myself around my birthday. I've been lurking round here for a few months and have learnt so much about Leon's lol.

I came across your RR thread and couldn't stop reading it, I finished after 98 pages start to finish a few hours back lol! What an amazing car mate, by far the best I've seen! Well done. I was reading getting my hopes up that you were thinking of selling for an S3 around mid 2012, conveniently when I was looking to buy one, but it seem your considering keeping it a little longer now? Never mind but if you do change you mind and fancy selling up any time after May (when I turn 21 and can get insured) I'm already interested! But if not enjoy it and I'll try and find one half as good (wish me luck haha).

I loved the detailing posts too, I try to keep my car as good as I can. Almost as anal as you when it comes to cleaning ;) at least once a week maybe twice but I do a fair few miles. I invested in a rotary polisher when I bought the VTR and it looks brilliant for what it is, just after something, bigger and more modern tbh.

But yeah, your car looks fantastic you ought to be proud and I'll be sure to keep an eye on this (it's bookmarked in my phone!)

Carl

good choice on the exhaust, you cant beat the sound of a piper system had mine for over a year now and it still puts a smile on my face every time i drive it.

Yeh just high temp black :).. Cant wait to get the last little bits fitted to the bay thatll finish it off nicely :)

Hmm, I might do the same to mine now..

All about bay bling haha :)

Sambryant can get the Relentless stuff mate, have a word if you fancy one. Decat will give you the noise you crave!

Look forward to seeing how you go with it.

Hi Carl,

Thanks very much for the kind post! :)

Nothing wrong with getting the Clio/Saxo out of the system early on in your motoring years haha! I've had 2 Clio 1.2's before and they are fun cars, cheap thrills, just very cheaply made lol... Good cars to start out but ultimately I wouldn't own another French car. Has to be German underneath now for me.

Get a good LCR and you will NOT regret it. For the money it's the best all round performance hatchback you can buy IMHO. From what it starts as to where you can get to with the car they really take some beating. I love mine and did think about an S3 this year but it's alot of money for not a massive gain/difference from what I've got. I would get it to stage 2 plus mapping at around 360bhp but I can live with my LCR for a few more years yet, especially after this weekend I now have a new found love for the exhaust noise, it's so sweet now and the car is faster than ever since the new tip has gone on. Very happy at the moment!

Yeah, the detailing pics are some of my favourites if I'm honest :) It's a shame I didn't have refurbed Brembo calipers and my new wheels then though for the pics but hey ho.. I might get her done again this year by my contact who did it for me last year. He is amazing at what he does.

It's good to be picky about things, every little helps as they say! I look forward to seeing you on here with your own reader's ride mate, and an LCR! Like I say, you won't regret it. Great car.

I am very proud of how my car has come along now, but there's plenty to be done this year and lots updates will be on the way.

Cheers.
Tom

Sounds very nice and looks very nice too - Shame there's no way to make my pd150 sound as sweet as that. I do miss petrol exhaust notes...

Liam.

Cheers Liam!

The diesel's can sound pretty awesome if you have a straight through pipe. Brad1 on here does and it is very vocal. It's a different sound of course to petrol but you can hear it quite far off!

Tom great work as usual, piper sounds nice and different - more raspy, very nice

Thanks mate! I'm over the moon with the sound to be honest, just sounds the nuts driving around now. It will be too loud for some people but for me this is better so it's awesome!!! Can't wait to hear her sing on AmD's rollers soon :cartman: Going to be vocal!

Cheers S1mon! I had one on my 1st LCR and missed it alot, the sound from the Milltek was loud on boost but it's a different type of noise and I just wanted the Piper sound back in my life, lol. I can't think of a better sounding exhaust on these, it's the daddy.

Looking good Tom and sounds sweet!

Might be interested in you old B5 V1 tip if you've still got it?

Cheers matey! As said, I'm very happy with it.

I still have the tip. ;)

Nice update mate, hoping to have a new TIP on mine by rr day ;)

Cheers mate :)

Oooh nice one, which one you going for? Really looking forward to the RR day going to be sweet.

Nice to see you again Tom. Glad everything is sorted with the car, really made me miss mine. Glad you enjoy the ride in the BMW. Good thing the tires had grip!!
