Just thought I would share my findings.

Since the panic buying of fuel all the shell garages within 10 miles of me have all sold out of V-power so I had to fill up twice with Tesco 99.

I was under the impression that it is an inferior fuel but since using it I have seen my hunting idol settle down and i am getting consistently an extra 50miles to a tank! since buying the car last year I have always go around 210-240 miles to a tank using V-power I filled up yesterday with V-power as they just got a delivery and will see if it goes back down, I haven’t changed my driving or route or anything just seems very strange....

Well I used to swear by v-power but since the prices have increased the tesco near my work is 4p a litre cheaper for 99 so been using that for 4 months or so and I find the car performs identical but on tesco 99 my car idles smoother than on v-power.

Ive used tesco99 from nuthall rd tesco since day1,bp ultimate 100 yards up the road is over 10p more a litre and no increaae in econamy or peformance so its a no brainer for me

Tesco momentum is a lot better, iv always said- with tesco in my tank car feels quicker.
There was a thread on here not long ago that showed that tesco's juice was better than anything else, I swear by it now!

I have never been able to distinguish fuel performance, but I have only ever had V Power in the current car with one tank of Tesco 99 in the middle and noticed no difference.

I don't understand why anyone buys Esso or BP fuel though with their premium prices of 5-10p a litre more than the others.

thats the same one i filled up at both times lol thats that then looks like i will be switching to tesco 99 then!

Had to put 25 quid of normal shell as no shell garages I went to had bloody V-Power. Was thinking about switching to Tesco 99 but is more expensive here than the V-Power.......

I use tesco Premium usually but with the chaos recently I had to get vpower 4p diff and I couldnt tell any difference. So will prob keep using momentum tbh

Have you tried regular fuel? I get 300 miles to a tank of normal unleaded. I tried the shell v power (or whatever shells one is called) and I too got 240 miles out of a full tank of the same mixed driving.
I've gone back to using regular unleaded as its cheaper, I get more miles and I noticed no difference in performance. My car is standard

Had the same problem around here! I was a little worried it may be detrimental to the car running a lower ron fuel, so I ended up having to buy BP Ultimate.

In Sweden the V-power used be 99 octane but now days it is down at 98 octane. Interesting is that Shell Sweden still are claiming it is as good as the old v-power but when pushed to present a proof no replies.
The V-power is priced about 7p more for each liter. Wish we had the German 102 octane juice over here.

Why do people think Tesco is inferior, its not like it is made by Tesco supermarket's?!

Since my whole fuel system was pretty much replaced, I have religiously used v-power. The difference was night and day when running just an induction kit and especially once it was mapped too. Again, since everyone started panic buying and causing a v-power drought, I've been using momentum. Don't notice any difference in idle or mpg. But I do feel it 'holding back' marginally. Or if not that, it's not pulling as hard. I am fortunate to have a company car so my K1 is purely a weekend toy. And thus I tend to drive it hard most of the time so it's not like I've changed my driving style. Perhaps it's just perception rather than fact. Or maybe my car is just addicted to it lol

I will not be putting Tesco 99 in my Cupra again.
My Cupra is a phase 2 running near 360ish(getting dyno tomorrow).
When Tesco in the tank the car makes far more smoke under full load, to the point where is very noticeable out the back window... Black smoke means the car is running too rich or not burning the fuel properly.

Put v-power back in and now there's only a tiny haze of smoke under full load.

Read up on Tesco fuel, its mixed with ethanol to get to 99.
Ethanol makes the fuel more dry which does not burn as well in a road engine.

Ok I didn't know that.

Either way the car does not burn tesco properly, I also get twice the amount of soot on the back of my car with it.
