Stretched Tyres

I am wondering if anyone is running stretched 215 tyres on a 19" rim.

I am looking to curve the outer edge of the tyres to give n extra bit of clearance i need with the bigger wheels.


Any pics/vews/advice would be appreciated.

Only with a couple of heavy male passengers in the back!! I want my car day to day drivable!!

I plan to raise the car 10mm and change the tyres over the next 6-9 months and this should give me 21mm of additional clearance!! More than what I need!!

Pretty sure I've seen members on here with stretched tyres on 19's but I don't think they were 215's. More like 225/235's on 19x9/19x9.5. Can't remember their names to give you a link though.

Yeah I have 235 on at the moment, will probably go for 225 first and then can always go down again if required!!

Yeah, I have 215/35 19's on the back, no problems and looks well.

P.s. have always gone for continentals but cant get them in the 215's ... what are you guys running??

personally I like the fit of them looks wise, just a tiny bit of lip to keep the sc3n3 people happy lol but really doesn't help the look of the car if your still on standard suspension IMO

and yes my tires are filthy

I want it low enough to look good, but not to low it is impractical.

Yea A5 split Y's, they've now been done in satin black.

Most of those pictures are on standard ride height as I haven't switched back to my KW's after winter at that stage, but on 2 pictures it is as low as I think you could go, it was basically on the floor.

It was 61cm from the bottom of the tyre (ie.ground) running through the centre of the alloy to the highest part of the arch, and I never got any kind of rubbing.

I did have a bit of negative camber to help tug the wheels in more that may have helped. But that was it, no arch rolling etc.

Running this low at the minute, it's only ever me really in the car and admittedly I've not been far in it like this but no issues what so ever with rubbing in the bends or anything though I'm not a fast driver by any means.

Your tyres must be a fair size as I've always thought there a decent enough amount of room in the leons rear arches

Have mine very low also but with the stretch tyres and rolled arches I have absolutely no rubbing

Well I must have something wrong then ... i have a good inch gap between top of tyre and wheel ach edge and the rear is terrible at times.

Rolled Arches??

You roll the inner lip of the arches to give your rims and tyres a bit of extra space. Great job but be sure to get it professional done with and arch rolling tool as you will end up wrecking your arches if you let some hammer happy mechanic have a go

Im running 215/35/19's too! i have mine right down at the back witht he adjuusters out so the arch sits right on the wheel, i get no scrubbing or anything though as my wheels arent spaced. the front sits about 10mm off the tyre.

^^^^^^ you running that low on coilovers? are your arches rolled?
