Radio switches to the AM band by itself

In the past couple of weeks I noticed that when getting in the car, sometimes the radio would turn on with the AM band showing, even though I never listen to AM band stations, but only FM or CD.

This morning driving to work, all was OK, listening to an FM station, and then suddenly it just switched to the AM band by itself.

Anyone experienced this before?

RDS stuff, like traffic updates etc is only carried on the FM signal, I think, so I doubt that traffic updates would cause a swap to AM.

Im sure traffic updates up here in Scotland shoot over to AM810 which is Radio Scotland.

My car is exactly the same!! Listening to radio 1 on fm when I leave the car... and when I come back to the car is switched over to 909 am!?!?

Think I've worked this out - if you change the band by using the stalk, it is NOT saved for the next time you use the radio.

So if you want the radio to always to turn on to an FM band - then select this FM band by using the "radio" button on the actual radio unit itself.

Tested this around five times today and each time I started the car up it stayed on the FM band.
