Thinking of getting a caravan and according to the owner it's around 1000kgs on the road would my 90bhp pull this ok or would it hurt it? Like the way it drives un-mapped

Yeah well capable of that weight (there's someone that tows a caravan with a Lupo!!! lol!!). Don't know how old you are or when you passed etc so just make sure you've got the right license categories

It would be better with a decent map, to provide more torque. I've seen the guys at tdiclub.com with the same engine, who tow a lot, and have found that with a good map that towing is a lot easier.

You say you like your car un-mapped??! How can that be so?? Is that because you had a map and didn't like it? It was probably a BAD map, so you would be much better off getting a GOOD map from a reputable supplier.

Not everyone is in to mapping,i'm 1 of them

Would you care to explain why, as I can't think of any reason apart from insurance reasons.

The OP is also asking about towing, and I've read reviews on tdiclub where people have used a mapped 90BHP TDI to great effect towing, and they said it was a lot better than unmapped.

This isnt a thread about mapping & if i give my reasons you will argue like you have on every other thread you've posted on

The OP has asked if his 90bhp will tow a caravan, the answer is yes, sure a 110bhp + would be more ideal but 90bhp will do the job

Would nozzles give enough on their own or would it make it smokey? Would re-map be as smooth as standard map?

Nozzles set up right are a superb boost in torque, mine are on a standard 90 with no smoke but nice torque. I got a fair surprise accelerating uphill. Towing is fine with them or without. I towed the golf about 60 miles over some big hills in my cordy with the 90 and nozzles.

Good job thanks for the reply, I'm only after that little bit of torque for towing

My nozzles were about the same price as a map once all is said and done, you'd maybe be better with a straight map if you're not planning on going further. Get a custom one rather than the usual, it should be able to be set up exactly how you want it.

Going to pick up the caravan tonight do I'll see how it performs, only to do 25 mile with it but at least I know there's no problem getting more torque if needed. A local fella says nozzles and re-map should see 140-145bhp and bucket loads of torque?? Would this be about right?

Depends which engine you have, if it's the ALH then 150 easy enough, if it's the AGR then 125-130 tops but either way you'll get plenty of torque
