Tom the black coating is an anti corrosion thing.
I buffed this off of the friction faces before fitting them but know others haven't.
I got mine smoking big time when bedding them in, this coating burns off with extreme braking temperatures.
I too ran mine with DS2500 pads and it was a good set up.

Personally I didn't and wouldn't leave the pads to remove the coating but know other have done

Cheers for the post mate.

The brakes are on the car now though, lol.... It's too late, I'll burn it all off with the pads

I drove mine they smoke loads

I don't expect anything less from you mate :)

Might have already read this mate but this was helpful reading before I proceded with bedding in my DS2500s

Sweet, finally they are on. Now for the bedding in process, it's simple really. All you need to do is go for a mad blast, il convoy to make sure all is alright :p

Haha, the TED Tuning bedding in process lol...

They are mint looking discs, Shane couldn't afford :(

But 1 day hopefully. The discs always look tiny behind the rims but you take them off & bam their huuuuge lol!!

Wow, not updated this in a while! Shocking for me, lol. :)

Anyway its not so much an update but plan of what I want next! Decided to replace my clutch before it lets go! As that will be a disaster if it went while I was out on the road. The oem clutch is slowly getting worse and I would rather take the prevention route than cure...

This is the kit I will 99% be getting..

http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=47051&xSec=356

El has this on his LCR and its very similarly spec'd with similar power/torque and the same map so I know it can take it.

I will also be getting the Forge side to side movement shortshifter as I already have the front to back one. When this clutch gets fitted I'm going to be getting my gears re-aligned so the changes are as smooth as possible and short and precise! :D

Won't be cheap inc fitting, but this is future proofing this car for an inevitable clutch failure one day as the car is pushing over 100 lb/ft more than it should be from factory, LOL.

There is far more expensive options out there like the Helix setups etc, but I just don't need that. This kit from Awesome can take over 400 lb/ft. I've driven El's car and it felt very OEM, light clutch pedal and the bite wasn't much different to OEM also. Impressive stuff from Awesome tbh. This car is never going to be big turbo'd while I have it. 300bhp (approx) is enough in a front wheel drive hatch to have loads of fun. I'd want an Evo or something with capable 4WD if I was going 400bhp+....

So yeah that's the latest plan for tune to the car, other than that, 4 weeks today the car will be on the stand at the Bromley Pageant show very local to me. Come along and view all the SEAT's if you haven't been before. There is circa 30 of us going.

Car is running sweet and the decat with the Piper cat back is starting to sound sexual now the warmer temps are hitting us, it sounded awesome tonight and is starting to pop a little too.
:)

Sounds like the right plan mate. Sort the ancillaries now

Yeah mate this needs to be done otherwise it's going to worry me more and more...

Will be nice to re-align the gears at the same time, should certainly feel much better and easier to drive at pace once this is done :)

Sounds like a good plan mate. You won't be disappointed with the clutch choice. When I saw your car yesterday it did sound lovely

Cheers mate, it should feel a million times better to drive! The gears can be a bit clunky at times..

Warmer temps = more raspy decat! Was loving my drives this weekend! I need to see/hear your car now she's been brought up to the big boy league ;)

We need to get those drive by videos done mate. Need to service the car and then going to reset my ecu so that it forgets its old dirty habits :p
