I'd shove it up their arse and get it done elsewhere for half the price.

air coditioning service interval

the seat service interval recommends that air conditioning should be serviced every 2 years, the refrigeratation gas looses approximately 15% of its volume per annum through natural wastage reducing the efficiancy of the system.
this service can be carried out by an alternative garage for roughly £50, which includes removeing the existing refridgerant, vaccuming any condensation out, refilling the system to the manufacturers level by weight and adding a lubricant to ensure the compressor and pipe seals are prevented from drying out and leaking.

I sold my Honda Civic last year after having owned it for nine and a half years. For about 1 year the A/C had been below par so I had it repressured before selling it, for about £40. Until then it had been fine with no work done on the A/C. I tried to ensure I ran it for 5 minutes or so about twice a month. Same with this Ibiza.

I don't think that SEAT mention any A/C servicing in the service book do they? Remember too that domestic refrigerators and deep freezes run for years with no attention.

I did tell them where to go.Had a 58 plate 1.4 sc before this one and they never offered this service for that car, so I assumed they are short of work, also there are numerous garages around here that do an air con service and refill for £45.
Jusy wondered if it will invalidate a warranty claim should the air con develop a fault.

I doubt it. I looked in the service book which came with my 11 plate car, built early 2011. There is no mention of any attention to the A/C system. I'm pretty sure that you just get it refilled as and when required. Ask them for an up to date copy of the service schedule if you're worried.

It is on the Seat site at a fixed price charge of £69, here. I had mine done along with some other work by my dealer as a special offer for £45 a couple of months ago.

i had this with my vxr, said i need brake fuild change handbrake adjustment and air con clean. cant remember the cost but as for the air con i bought the same equipment from ebay as they use its an aerosol can you turn on with air con so it cleans the bacteria etc. at the time it cost me about a fiver. so unless u experience the air con failing i would just buy this to freshen it up

Mine does that unless it's on recirc mode.
I've had three car bombs at it (one my own, two at the dealer) and even tried some mould and mildew remover into the external air intake under the bonnet (not the one to the engine before anyone panics!) but nothing's worked for longer than the time it takes for the smell of the product to go away

to reduce the build up of smell from the system, it is advisable to switch off the air conditioning a couple of miles before arriving home, this allows the condesation formed on the condesor to dry out so no bacteria can form
