I've recently put down a deposit on a MK2 Leon FR with the 2.0 TDI CR 170 HP engine. My previous car for the past 18 months has been a VW Passat with the 2.0 TDI PD 170 HP engine - will miss the Passat for a few things but looking forward to the sporty image of the Leon.

Anyways - the sodding thing won't come with mats. I've already got the dealership to drop a grand off the price and I refused their aftersales Service/Warranty/MOT bolt ons so when I tried the "Mats or no deal" I was told it would be no deal.

So, I've looked and although I can get them cheaper - I'm not prepared to pay £70 for a set of mats. There are many threads here already but my real question is to see what the difference is between mats 06-09 and 09-11. My model is an 09 (Facelift) so I assume I want the ones 09-11 ... but what is the difference?

Second question is a general one - when I fitted LED number plate bulbs to my Passat I ended up with a warning light due to CANBUS and had to pay about £15 for a compatible set ... would it be the same with the Leon? If so, I might take my Passat ones with me and drop in normal bulbs to that from a motor factors.

Third should be easy, the Leon has a USB connection just in front of the gear lever. In a video review a guy shows him connecting a flash drive - will it work if I connect my iPhone 4S and allow me to control it via the steering wheel controls?

Thanks in advance for any help - I've been around here before and have good experience owning Seat's - glad to be back to the brand. :)

Thanks for the responses, don't get the Leon for another week or so - my Passat still has 3/4 a tank to be used up and it'll allow for them to do the transfer of my plate.

I'll take the LED bulbs from the Passat and use those then - I've also ordered up the USB/AUX cable as linked above.

For the mats, are the ones from a 2007 any different to the ones from a 2010? I've no problem buying a cheap set from eBay providing they fit. :)

Don't think the mats should be any different, same floor-pan.

I was going to take the ones from our 2007 FR and put them in our 2010 car but it already had newer oem mats so I did the decent thing and left them in the old car...

Regarding the mats, I think it might be something to do with the fixings Chris. I've got the facelift mats which I bought by mistake and can't use the fixings, but I can't remember why right now.

I think it might be the holes in the drivers mat are oval for f/l and round for older models maybe..?

I ordered a set of these mats, cheap as chips - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190609546311

If they fit, I'll confirm on here.

Regarding the LED bulbs, I'll try them in the Leon and dig out where I bought them to share with others. I think they were around £15 for the set at the end of 2010.

Just stumbled on this site for custom made mats for Seats and many others.

About £20 with P&P for the current Leon’s with Oval and Round clip locator's available.

My Leon came with mats so I have not tried this site myself.

Chris

Just to add..Noticed from a link to another forum, apparently this site has a discount code system and for further reduction enter IWANTADEAL when you checkout. This was working two weeks ago and I assume it still is.

I was told that All Leon FR's come from the factory with mats. Mine did anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if the dealership has binned them in an attempt to get me to buy new mats.

The car isn't new BTW, it's an 09 plate. Literally just turned three years old, previous owner traded it in and only covered 30K in that time.

Hi (my first post)

My Leon 2010 came without mats - after a fair bit of digging I have just (5 mins ago) ordered some from "Cyberspares" after the recommendation I read elsewhere on the forum.

Opted for the "Super Deluxe Carpet" as I'm finding the clutch and brake a little higher than my last car.

I also found some official Leon 2008 onwards mats on ebay and compared the shape of the mats... Cyberspares looked exact match, plus the have the FR logo embroidered on them unlike the Seat ones I saw.

They should be here in a few days.

Oh and regarding the iPhone 4s cable. I got one from Amazon that works perfectly with the steering controls.

Regarding the CANBUS error thing, yes, you'll most likely end up with an error if you don't install the ones identical to the ones in the Passat. I know that because when I installed Xenon,I had to get a canbus error kit in order to fix the annoying error.
