Does modifications affect servicing? Void warranty?
Basically i may be looking a bolt on induction kit and exhaust. My question is surely if the service technician notices the mods and informs the manager and then the cars develops issues. He can void the warranty on the car saying that i modded it and its my fault.
totally depends on the guys looking at it to be fair, best bet is just put it back to standard for servicing but you will prob be okay. most dealers will take the sort of view point of rather not piss the customer off so he keeps coming back to us for servicing.
Ok thanks. Also do you know if putting standard 501 bulbs in the low beam headlights will cause a dash warning to come on. Ive read somewhere that they ahve to 'Canbus'?
Whatever mods you do, it'll only void that part e.g. if you have an aftermarket exhaust replacing the stock, then that only voids the exhaust, nothing else.
501 bulbs should be fine as I use 501's in mine and no warning lights have come on
What would be considered void by me putting a ITG on? Because i have misfire issues and the oil problems i dot want to get one and be told they wont sort it because thats on haha
The engine would be void so I suggest you get that sorted first before you do anything to it bud. Just out the blue, I'm getting an ITG kit 2nd hand tomorrow so I'll have that ready to put on after my oil consump is fixed hopefully
it makes no difference to the servicing what so ever,, except maybe saving you some money as you won't have to keep buying air filter elements if you have an induction kit etc. with regards to the warranty as already stated a dealership will void any parts you have modified and those parts that they can prove are directly linked to the modification. for example 'if your turbo goes and they find out you have had a remap that has changed boost pressure etc then bye bye warranty!' you will find that most warranty companies will try their very best not to pay out in normal circumstances so I think modifying just gives them extra ammo to turn down a claim. :O
