Revo can do it for £388 as they've got a diesel sale on at the moment. Would that be a safe bet? They're claiming just a 25bhp increase - but I need it to be reliable.

I think Revo are the safest bet as it was they've done a lot of testing in collaboration with some tuner in belgium on the engine. It's why they don't have the biggest power boost figures, their testing suggests that higher figures puts too much stress on the components, They've got bigger figures during testing but opted to go lower to get a reliable product

See APEC Belgium's News blog http://apecbelgium.blogspot.co.uk/

Other providers will come up with more power and torque than APEC Belgium / Revotechnik: We are definitely in favor of competition in the market, this can only benefit the consumer, provided sufficient caution! Why "only" 130/135Pk? The 1.6TDI with smaller intercooler + aspiration (Audi A1, VW Polo, Seat Ibiza, ...) we + - 130HP The cars with larger intercooler aspiration (Audi A3, VW Golf, Seat Leon, ...) we + - 135HP When many tests (6 months development ability banking and public road) has shown that an excessive amount of fuel results in a high inlet and exhaust temperature, both are crucial to the reliability indicate. In itself it is very easy to 150 + HP from the 1.6TDI pick, but in that case the exhaust gas temperature limiter to an extent to be written that the reliability SERIOUS jeopardized in the short term, this should not be a problem, However, in the medium term this will result in faulty turbos, leaky gaskets (head plate gasket), particulate filter problems, melted pistons, ... Concrete APEC Belgium / Revotechnik maintain their position that +-140HP (dependent on the measured exhaust gas temperature under cycle load (dyno)) the absolute maximum for the reliability of the engine and drivetrain guarantee. Also let the speed limiter, writing / increasing this limit allows the exhaust and oil temperature under heavy load (speed) to such an extent that increase engine damage (immediate) is very real. With this the view of the first and as yet only tuner (APEC Belgium collaboration Revotechnik) worldwide who 1.6TDI of tuning can provide. High capital gains as a marketing stunt by us does not arise! Regards, The APEC Belgium and Revotechnik team

Edit. In case you're wondering what's in the picture statement.... repeat of above basically.

Part 1.
1.6TDI tuning ... Craftsmanship vs. Marketing
EEAP
Since mid-April 2012 APEC Belgium provides a tuning for the 1.6T0I engines of VAG group. As you have just are preceded by a month-long period of research, development & testing.
Since early 2012 we had 4 cars available to extensively test: Audi Al 1.6TDI 90HP, 90HP VW Polo 1.6TDI, 1.6TDI 105HP VW Golf 6 VW Caddy 1.6TDI 75HP and this has enabled us to tuning developed prior to public launch.
On July 6, 2012 announced CMD Technologies (Flashtec SA) that they will soon offer a solution for the 1.6TDI engines, since the market is flooded with offers: Stage 1, Stage 2 at very low prices, knowing that these providers still do not have access have had access to the engine of this motor pallet, at most one original file could be read (the beginning of an important R & D process).

Specifically, if one on July 6, 2012 Tuningen already announced for the 1.6TDI but still no tests were possible you as a customer so the guinea pig, without exception, it is no different.
We have decided to meet these marketing stunts not to participate and our Tuningen to continue to offer the price 600eu VAT and power measurements including, before you get a tuning tailored to your car, whose basic parameters and were tested on both investment bank as public roads on our test vehicle, with us you are not a guinea pig.

As of today, the tuning at APEC happen the day (+ - 2 hours work), 2 phases are no longer required.
Quick cash, high turnover appears to have been the mainstay of many of our competitors! How are going to deal with unexpected circumstances and with the long-term effects is not known, which is a big gamble with your vehicle the test instance.
Tuning a 1.6TDI engine can not be compared with any motorization to date:
- The engine is particularly sensitive to high exhaust gas temperatures (reliability in the short and medium term are at stake)
- Opening / closing of the ECU requires some dexterity (an ECU that is not a professional way opened or closed will eventually suffer water damage)
- 1.6TDI 's equipped with DSG-7 (DQ200 dry clutch) to the torque of 300nm not (APEC Belgium has the solution ready, and adds this adjustment without additional cost to the tune of the 1.6TDI with DSG-7, as can you to enjoy the maximum reliable power and torque).
- There are clear differences between some cars (smaller / larger intercooler, smaller / larger intake pipe), without the knowledge, the power on all versions are identical with all possible consequences.
- Eliminating / increasing the speed limiter as a direct result at higher speeds than the ex-factory value of the exhaust gas & oil temperature ARROW FAST go up, resulting in the short and medium term engine damage (turbo damage, leaking head gasket, ...)

hello mate is this all of what revo have said as im looking for a remap for my 1.6tdi do you think they would make a bigger intercooler and bigger intake pipe for the seat ibiza 1.6 tdi model to compensate if you were to have near 150hp put into your car

Just got my car back from being remapped , It picks up a lot better from standstill and is amazing through the gears , Claimed figures are 140bhp and 280-300nm , Will get it on the rollers at the end of the month to see :) .

Mpg wise i didnt see a difference from my commute back from work.

No problems so far mate. Really sorts out that laggy start when you pull off from standstill. Its amazing through the rev range completely changes the performance of the car.

how much was it to have the map done..i might go to a garage near me in london that does the revo map and see how much it would be to have mapped..you got anymore power mods your thinking of..im hoping that a company will make bigger intake pipes and intercoolers for these cars cause seom fo us will want more than 150hp out of these engines
