Projector lenses alignment problem.

Hello there,

I installed dayline Dectane head light units before yesterday and I am finding a problem with the alignment of the lenses.

They use H1 bulbs and I have H1 5000K bulbs installed in them. When you get out of the car and look at the ground, the cutoff is good, I suppose (two Vs):

However, where they are pointing is messed up:

I've tried using the allen keys more than one time and I adjusted the straight lines perfectly but the far right is pretty horrible. I honestly don't know what's up with it and I am pretty sure that it's not a problem that can be fixed with the allen keys because I've tried. I feel like there's something wrong with the bulbs themselves. It may be the lenses, but that would be a shame because Dectane supposedly does decent head light units and I've paid a lot for them.

What do you guys think is the issue? Am I thinking too much about this? Is that, perhaps, how they're supposed to look like (although I highly, HIGHLY doubt it). I have been having alignment issues ever since the very first time I installed HIDs in my stock, reflector head lights and they have never been fixed since then, even after I tried retrofitting lenses in the OEM head lights and then eventually buying ones by Dectane. I am already extremely frustrated and I don't know what to do. No one over here that I went to is able to help me, and of course the guys that got me the head lights see nothing wrong with the alignment and claim that's how it's supposed to be.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, please? What else can I try? Removing and refitting the bulbs? Fitting different ones?

Thanks a lot and sorry for the long *ss post.

This is fine. Basically inside the projector there is a metal plate at the bottom half which is cut at an angle, the light hits this and due to the glass lens the image is flipped upside down (just like your eye). depending on how the metal is angled depends on how it is shown on the road, in your case you have a large kickup to highlight the pavement. If you have UK lights the kickup would be on the other side....I have one of these plates at home which I could take a photo to show what I mean.

If you were really bothered by it you could take them to bits and open up the projector and replace the metal with one you cut yourself. People use an old coke can as it is easy to cut and has good aluminium content so no issues with rust etc. but to be hones its probably more hasle than it's worth.

Thank you, that's all I needed to hear. Nah, I'm not going to open up the head lights, as you said it would be too much of a hassle, especially since the other guy ruined my head lights by retrofitting lenses and rings inside them in a very unprofessional manner so I am not going to risk it. I'm going to have to learn the craft myself in order to do exactly what I'd like to see. I'll probably store the old head lights under my bed or something and will work on them when we take a break between the Fall and Spring semesters, which is from the 20th of December till the 1st of February. That'll definitely give me enough time to work on the head lights and fix them.

As Rob says, those lights are correct for people who drive on the right side of the road.

This picture demonstrates perfectly why UK people should not buy left hand drive lights !!!

We have try try and explain this to soo many customers who think that buying lights from Europe are fine for UK cars !

Unless you can open up the projector and put in a new shield so it reflects the light the correct way! ;)

I've tried opening a lot of the aftermarket lights, and the plastics they use are not as good quality as the OEM stuff. I've broken a few aftermarket lights trying this !!! However 'IF' you can open them, you can move the lamp shield round the other way.

In fact when you look at a lot of the Depo aftermarket lights, they actually swing the beam deflector 'up' and 'down' when switching from LHD to RHD - simple but clever !

I am not going to bother with that, it's just too much hassle. I'll try to get over the large kickup on the right and get on with my life. What I'm trying to figure out right now is why the LEDs eventually stop working and then work again after a while. It's just really weird and I've tried everything I can think of. The right one dies at first and then the left one does as well, about 10 minutes after it. Sometimes they don't turn off at all, even if I drive for more than an hour, while at others they turn off 10 minutes later. It's really annoying and frustrating. My friend has Dectane ones in his Ibiza and another in his Jetta and that doesn't happen with them!

Ever thought the led issue is because the plugs on the back of the headlight aren't quite in properly? I didn't quite put mine in properly when installing my DRLs which caused my indicator to mess up, everything else worked fine though

I am pretty sure all the plugs, including the main one, in the back of my headlights are in correctly.

@Willz, I didn't receive any sensors or resistors, mate. You've sent me pictures of them before but I still didn't quite see how or what they look like, or exactly what they connect to. Would it be possible for you to take up-close pictures of them? And by the way, I'm not receiving any errors even when the LEDs turn off on the dashboard, so does that mean it still requires resistors?
