where to get vagcom

I may be remembering this wrongly, but isn't unlimited lifetime support included in the price? If you think about it this way, on average garages will charge you £50 to plug your car in, this means by buying it as soon as you've plugged in 5 or 6 times its broken even :)

Email support is free for all registered users of VCDS and VAG-COM. Live telephone support is now fee based since we have added 3 techs in the last 3 years and something has to defray the cost of having them on the phones.

Our plan is that software updates will be free for life. Economic conditions may require us to change that policy at some point but for now, we continue, as we have for 12 years, to offer free software updates. Few, if any, other diagnostic tool companies offer free updates.

For those who have supported Ross-Tech in this thread, thank you. Ross-Tech appreciates that you value our work and what we provide to the Vdub community world wide. That you appreciate the effort it takes to build and support such a tool we take as a high compliment.

At times in this forum I have been guilty of ranting against those who buy the clones of our product and tell us it does no damage. I rant because it does damage to my livelihood and my ability to take care of my family. But, as I will be censored by the moderators in this forum if I start to rant, I will not do so.

However, I hope the moderators will permit me to share an opinion:

Morally, each of us has to decide what our path should be. If there is no wrong to buying illegal copies of someone's work, then I guess one can choose that path. In this world, there no longer seems to be an absolute right or wrong - we have decided right and wrong is relative. What is right for one is not necessarily right for another. I don't share that view, nor do I share the view that no one is harmed by the sale or purchase of illegal copies of a product. I believe we are all harmed because our moral code continues to erode. Where will it end?

100% agree with this! At the end of the day where would most of us be without vag com? We'd certainly have a lot less pennies in our pocket every time a light came up on the dash!

I completely agree with this. Just bought an official Ross-Tech lead and software from a distributor listed on their site. Extremely happy with it and its a great product! I can honestly say it is well worth the money, and would recommend buying the genuine one to anyone!!

Hi. I need some advice on updates please? .. I took my ibiza cr 1.6 to dundee seat dealer in april last year, was told it had current software.. after having massive problems with dpf lights/ getting egr valve replaced recently. I've been informed from my garage who I do trust (but who have used another contact over weekend) that they had to do a software update and im being charged £170 for that.. im picking up my car today but so confused over why my car needed an update after being told it was fine a year ago. I can't find anything online about how often updates are released.
Tia for any info :confused::confused::confused:

updates can be released at any time, just like those on a mobile phone. so 12 months ago your ecu would have been up to date an a new version of software was released between then and now.

The only thing I'd question is where the hell they get £170 for a software update!!! WTF!?
