Just flicking through my LCR insurance documents and noticed that Admiral have charged me a £31.29 "credit charge" for paying up front and in full, spoke to a woman on the phone and asked why I was being charged a credit charge for paying a one off payment in full, told me it was because i'm paying by direct debit, but how am I paying direct debit when I'm paying my insurance in one payment in full??

This doesn't sound right to me? Anyone else have similar with Admiral or anyone else?

Sounds fishy to me! Well worth another call I'm thinking

Did you give them a card to take the money from or a bank account number?

They can charge you via direct debit once if your paying in full. Although why they would do that i dont know, they have always asked me to provide a card number.

Then they shouldnt have charged a direct debit does not use a card.

Phone them and complain- tossers that company i left them because they were taking the piss.

I gave them my card number.

They're at it then - you gave them your card number so it was paid for using that. No reason to add on a credit charge.

Was it a renewal or whole new policy with them? Just wondering if you'd paid by D/D in the past and now its renewal time they've carried on thinking you'll pay the same way.

If it was a renewal and you had paid by D/D last time, I'd check your bank account to make sure they haven't also been taking payments from that.

Another call required to ask for a refund on that!

Sneaky so-and-sos......

Yeh gonna give them another call, it's a brand new multi car policy and never used them before. It's only £30 like but at the end of the day I already pay enough for car insurance, cheeky sods!

Check your bank statement, it will tell you for sure if it was a card transaction or direct debit. Sound like they are at it to me. Offer copies of your bank statement, demand the money back and try and screw more out of them for all the phonecalls and hassle.
