Looking good mate. Are you going the modding route?

Thanks.

i would like to yes but i dont really know what you can do to these?

i would like to put

Audi A3 wheels on it (if they fit?)
lower it by 30mm

not really to much as it only a 1.4 but i would like to make it mine as its a 51plate and not done 100,000miles yet so will be keeping for a while.

Looks in good nick, reminds me of my wife's 1.6S she had a few years ago (until we had some roof tiles fall on it!). Always thought it made good use of the chassis for plenty of interior/boot space in the Mk1.

Thanks mate,

yeah its a awesome car, i couldnt get a 1.6 as insurance was a killer.

Nothing wrong with a 1.4 :p

-Drop it
-Space it out
-Debadge the rear
-smooth off bump strips
-Stubby ariel
-Smoked side repeaters

the list can go on and on!!!

Nice first car though!

Yeah thinking dropping it by 30mm
space it out? how you mean by that mate?
Already Debadge it
smooth off bump stripes? how do that?
ill look into stubby ariel
and side repeaters.

cheers i thought it was a very good choice :D

Love to have had the leon as my first car. Nice colour as well matey. I take it you are going for subtle mods because of the insurance??

Thanks, yeah i made a great choice for getting this as my first car.

and yeah just normal mods really as my insurance is £2000 haha.

your insurance cheap as chips?

I had a 1.4s as my first car too! If I was you I would do loads to it as before you know it you can upgrade to something quicker and better my insurance was £1700 on mine after a year got a tdi 110 insurance was £1400 for that. I lowered my Leon on golf james springs 35mm drop and some 5 spoke 17" alloys on it. Looked good and handled very well.

Word of advise though if you lower and get decent wheels/tyres it will handle well but don't give it too much abuse like I did as mine was on its 3rd gearbox when I sold it as the diff blows rivets very easily!! Enjoy it!! will try dig up my readers ride for you to have a look.

Pics of it lowered front didn't sit right so ended up changing springs to make front sit level. Was great or a first car and the girls loved it! Lol

Thanks for digging that up mate.

Yeah i noticed the front end was sitting higher up than the back, what springs are they?

i want some 2002 - 2004 audi a3 wheels like these...

but cant find any that are close by me.

Well by space it out i meay when you lower it get spacers for the wheels to help make the wheels fit the arches better. Other wise you get the barry boy wheels sitting in huge arches look :)

And the black plastic bump stripes on the front back and sides. I think they are just glues on if i remember rightly but not 100% as never owned a leon.

Ok mate thanks for that, im new to cars i was more into 2stroke motorbikes so all new for me.

ill look at the stripes today as they are very crap, and lowering with spacers when ive done the rest.

No worries mate everyone starts somewhere :) I had a 1.0 Arosa as my first car and had no clue about how to do anything on it. Learn from mistakes is the way I did it haha

Check my RR thread as my ibiza is only 1.4 if you want a quick bit of inspiration on what little things you can do :)

Will be keeping an eye on how this goes!

Cheers mate, i know people start from beginning but some people hate others asking questions that they already know haha

and ill have a look threw now see what things i can do.

Also the strips on my bumpers are not stick on ones, if i take them off they will have wholes in the bumpers.

You can get away with a certain mods but nothing to obvious :D

Mines just under a grand with all mods declared. I was paying 1600 quid on my first year of driving, and that was just a 1.2 fiat!!!

Hi mate, I also have a 1.4 S *high-five*
Not bad at all for a first car.

Due to being a student I'm limited as to what I can do in terms of mods but I have done the following so far:
• Tints
• Wrapped Lights and front badge
• Upgraded Stereo
• MJ Backbox and CupraStyle Tip

Hoping to get Xenons soon hopefully as I do a lot of driving in the night.
