got in the car twice today, hit the button to open the mirrors down and the passenger mirror was stuck. is this controlled by a motor or a bearing?

anybody else had a similar issue?

its just crap getting under the sliding part what the mirrors sit just spray some spire grease under the unit and work them back and forward if not take the unit a part, i had same problem but works good now had to take it all part and clean the slides up :)

do any of you guys know why the mirrors have a fold button on the elctric mirrors?, because when you pull it back when say stopped it doesnt fold mirrors or anything!!, only locking car and holiding button can fold mirrors for me!!!

My passenger mirror gets stuck in the mornings, I have noticed that if I start the car first then after a few seconds turn the switch it works fine but i think i need to put some wd40 on it or something

Think about this.

Not everyone parks overnight in the street.

If I was to park it in my garage I would manually fold them so as I could get the car as far over to the left inside the garage, Once parked switch off the engine. This would give me more room on the right to open the drivers door. The following morning I wouldn't want them to auto unfold because the passenger side one would jam against the garage wall.

Same thing if I was to park close to a wall if I had an end parking space.

Also if you live in the sticks and farmer Giles comes the other way in his tractor, you may need to manually fold them in order to pass very slowly. In these cases you would want the button to work.

My left mirror makes some cracking noise while opening/closing, like a gear noise or something. The idea about taking it apart and clean it, would maybe fix it. Does anyone know how to take it apart, like a guide or something?

Annoying when this happens...

It's become a habit regardless where I am I always tilt the mirrors before I leave the car

However when they are stuck I would normally brute force and twist the mirrors down and up again

Then it would be fine and also a bit of WD40 would help too

I would like to dismantle my mirrors are some point and re-grease all the cogs...

It's not just cogs. There is a "detent" (spring loaded ball in socket. This is the health and safety bit to make it fold on impact.

rang warranty company, the motor that works mirror is covered under warranty so getting replaced 5th january!

surprisingly hassle free!!! makes a change

Becoming a more frequent occurance now. Jan 5th cant come fast enough. Wonder how much a new motor costs for the mirrors

the motor is on its way out then...just to update this i had the same creaking noise and was intermittant sticking so i took it back to the dealer and had the full unit replaced under warranty
