Hi Everyone, I have only had my LCR 225 with front Recaros :p
For a couple of months, noticed the shocks not coping with the bumps and its a bit wobbly at speed, also turn in is not sharp. Shocks have not been changed & have 91k under them.
So time to renew I think? As i also need to service the brakes I do not have a lot of cash & it's a daily driver, so coilovers are off the menu for these reasons. Would the following setup be good to improve corner turn in and fast road handling but still maintaining commuting comfort?

Eibach 22mm / 25mm arb - got already from DPM
S3 strut brace - got already from TPS
OEM LCR shocks from TPS
OEM LCR Top mounts
Audi TT roadster front rear wishbone bushes
KW cupraR specific lowering springs

dont care about stance only improving handling, do springs have to match shocks? In which case would kw springs and damper set be better? I had koni yellows on my civic vti and was not impressed
As the ride was un-even and to hard even on the softest setting, might have been the tenzoR spring. So I am rather confused on what will be best.

Look forward to your replies.

Will be watching this one. How much are the shocks and top mounts from tps if you have them allready?

Generally I've experienced a complete damper/spring setup is better than mixing but it all depends on the matching. Seen too often on other cars where people get good springs but cheaper/standard dampers and just don't feel as refined.

But Can't say I've experienced it on the LCR, as I know the standard shocks are already quite strong on dampening and use a softer spring compared to the Cupra. A fresh set of shocks is always better than a tired set though :)

Hi Tom, I havent got the shocks yet, just wondering what to do, the shocks are £310 & top mounts are £50 a pair.

Tbh if you just replaced the shocks you'd have a big difference,as far as spring & damper match goes speak to Damien at DPM he will do you a good deal & give you the advice you need,he has help alot of ppl on here,do a search there is loads of threads on here you just need to take a bit of time doing a bit of reseach

Hi Brettyboy, thanks for the tip, I have read ruddmiesters excellent post. I got the ARB's following his advice but the shocks he had were out of my price bracket! I might just go for the OEM shocks and do the springs later.

Cupra R shocks are not cheap though ... high quality SACHS gas units. As you say they are a firm damper as standard so with aftermarket springs they match very well.

In comparison the 'kit' I bought the dampers were too soft hence the swap to LCR gas units ... which can be had for £100 per pair new from SEAT! ;)

OP:

I'm running SACHS gas shocks with vogtland springs and for a fast road its superb ... car is mostly polybushed as well which tighten things up but went for Cupra R top mounts and the rear wishbone bushes to prevent too much vibration.

It just needs the uprated rear ARB to finish.

Sounds like the way forward, I noticed DPM do a H&R Spring set specifically for the cupra R. The OEM Lcr shocks are £310 from TPS for 4, which I thought was good value... But £100 a pair, do you get a special discount? will get hopefully get some after the xmas break, I want to fit the ARB's but every time I step outside it rains!
