Seems a strange request but on the golf forum they all seem to know the build number of their ed30's
So I wondered how you know the build number of a Cupra R?
When looking on the how many left website when mine was registered there was only 20 in the UK so I was curious if it can be worked out or not.

Yours was a couple of months before mine.
I'm trying to find out if there's a build number for example number 130 or something.
I've tried vin decoders but nothing seems to give the answer.
As our cars were some of the first you'd think they should be low down on the list.

Cupra R's are classed as Cupra's when it comes to build numbers

The guy whos on MK5 forum has got my build number

Nah hes got it, i was expecting something like 00012 but it will be like 30001 instead as its just classed as a cupra... Edition 30's where given special build numbers

Our R was one of the last imported (according to dealer and they never lie ;) ) into the UK. Registered 15/9/12.

Gobbleplease he's on here too.
On the mk5 forum he's selling plaques which would say cupra R build number etc cost is £20 unless 10 people wanted them which would be £18 from memory.
On the mk5 forum people say its the last 6 digits of the vin.
I was interested thinking our early cars would have a low number but it seems Seat couldn't be bothered sorting individual numbers out for the R.

Yeh they didnt just added them on to rest

could it be the case that they all came down the line as Cupra spec until a certain point them the "R" bits were added? European R's seem closer to the Cupra than the UK R . I know a lot of the trim ( seats, rear spoiler, exhaust etc) are added at the UK port. maybe thats why?

Yeah I think all cupra R's started life as a cupra until a certain point. What would it have taken for them to be numbered even if it was when they arrived at the UK.

As for gobbleplease from the mk5 forum he's a respected member on the forum and from what I've read he has spent time contacting vw and Seat so his information is correct.

Are you getting a plaque Andrew?

It's me that sells them, I've got no contact in seat although i did contact seat to see if it was possible to get individual build numbers for uk cupras and R's, although due to the masses of time it would take them they declined. Your build number is extracted from the vin number there is no contacting people on my behalf to get a number, the number you will have is your "production Number" this is the number your car rolled of the production line and is unique to your car.
I charge for the plaque, you get an oem sized plaque with oem plaque lettering which is deep engraved and coloured !

I've made loads up for mk5 golf GTIs using the same numbering (by production) as i would use on the cupras, cupra R and cupra K1

I've also made up plaques for edition 30s using there unique build numbers, aswell as plaques for my own mk2 golf gti and other mk2 owners.

The plaques are supplied with an alcohol cleaning wipe and 3m double sided sticky tape and I can make them up for any seat be it an Ibiza cupra, cupra r or k1

Cheers
