FR 17" Alloy - Damn Pothole!!

Hi all from a long time lurker.

I was driving home the other day and hit a significant pothole, after which my car pulled to the left so I thought my tracking had been knocked out a bit. Going to the car today I see my tyre (passenger front) is flat, I put some air in and see how it goes. After a few hours it is deflated again so I run around to get a trye fitted on new years eve. On inspection the tyre is found with a puncture, but worse the rim of the alloy is found to have a crack in it So now I need to find an OEM 17" FR alloy. Does anyone know where I can get one, or have a second hand one for sale? I have ploughed google and ebay with no luck

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cant help with the wheel - BUT :

Go back and take photos of the pot hole (with a ruler in the hole to show its size) and note the location accurately.

Also get pictures of the wheel damage and the tyre damage.

Ask the tyre place to write a statement saying that the damage was caused by an impact.

Then submit a formal complaint to the council claiming damages to your vehicle due to their negligence in repairing the road.
Submit the pictures with the complaint.

You should get a new wheel out of it and the cost of the tyre.

unlucky their m8 ,similar thing happened to me and the only reason i got away with it was i had my standard 16" sports wheels fitted at the time with the thick spokes and higher profile tyres.

can only suggest what you have tried already with ebay etc,might want too check pistonheads aswel as a long shot.

Get a friend to report it first. The council can't repair a pothole if they don't know about it. It's unlikely that the council will allow a claim unless the hole has been reported to them

My mate hit a really bad pothole in the summer of last year. Not only did it tear his tyre (the foam repair kit had no chance lol), but actually made an impact on the wheel itself.

After many letters etc., the council used the defence that 'they were not aware of it'. Problem is, there was an accident at the same site a few days prior - proper investigations into the cause of the accident should have identified the hole, even if it wasn't identified as being the cause.

Irritatingly, I'm certain that there are 'get out of jail' cards that are used.

For now I have the wheel sorted, trying a repair job at the mo, if it doesnt work out I will get in touch and see if your offer is still possible
