Cupra K1 Headlight Washer Jets

Hello all,

Just had my 4 year service done of the cupra. The mechanic advised me that the headlight washer jets were not coming out anymore. Obviously I wouldn't have noticed this as I am in the car when they are supposed to go off.

Does anyone know any common problems with these? hoping it could be a fuse or something along those lines.

Any help would be appreciated. So I don't have to book into SEAT, so they can charge me a stupid fee for it.

I thought they worked on the pressure of the water? Could be wrong as I suppose I do hear a little motorised noise when they come out, do you still hear that?

I'm sure mine froze the other year and I changed a fuse.....I could be wrong ( worth a try )

Nope there is no noise, which I think would be due to a fuse gone or if they are motorised the motors may have given up. Suppose I will need to do some investigations.

There is a fuse for these, 38 rings a bell but I can't guarantee it.

A good car mechanic/tech would have given you an idea of what the fault was.........

The headlight washers have their own high pressure pump, the high pressure washer fluid forces the washer jets up then sprays the fluid through the nozzles. They should spray when you do a long windscreen wash but if the fluid gets frozen the fuse for the high pressure pump will blow. It's a 20 amp fuse and fuse number 36 rings a bell.

Perfect thanks for that will have a look when its a bit brighter. the weather over the last couple days in scotland was very bad. The whole front of the car was covered in an inch of ice when out for a long drive.

This may have frozen them then blown the fuse.

In case you need to know, the pump is located at the front bottom of the water bottle and you can see it once you take the drivers side vent grill off (3 screws to remove).

Perfect tried to have a good look last night, far too cold -5 degrees last night

Problem solved it was a blown fuse. So that is now replaced. For anyone is the same predicament. The internal fuse box is not where the manual says it is. Actually at the side to the right. An interior piece needs to be removed to access it.

I do love a cheap fix!
