First few thousand revs are not good in first but after that can't complain with the power. I don't like the way that if you change gear fast when your going for it and it dies then picks up again that gets annoying

my theory is that it's the clutch can't cope.

No, that can't be it. The clutch runs at engine speed and the gear chosen has no effect.

The gearbox is rated at 200 nm max. which is less than the engine's 175 nm but I suppose that first gear might result in high forces at the gearbox output shaft and/or the drive shafts.

I got mine remapped for £200 via OBD. Figures currently unknown.

Although it had to be removed as the car broke. 2 dealers couldn't source the problem because my car had too many mods (a STEREO!!!). Anyway it went into a 3rd dealer and they found a leaking injector. Took 4 weeks to get sorted though. Booked into have the remap reinstalled on 25th jan :)

Company in my area called big fish tuning can do the remap for £250 all in with dyno run. Claims 130bhp after remap....just waiting to get the cash so i can book it in! I live in middlesbrough btw for anyone close by, company is located in stokesley.

This is who mapped mine :)

I'm in Yarm so it's really convenient. He's currently getting his new rolling road in and calibrated, hopefully I'll get it on the rollers when I get the map put on next week!

No mate he's refused payment for it, unless my ECU was updated while in the dealer. If its been updated there is a £50 fee for the re-write of the map :)

That's spot on. Sounds like a great guy. I've been looking into taking mine there just need to get it booked in.
Did you leave feedback on his website?

Yeah he's a great guy! I wrote something on here I think and he's quoted it from that. I'm always dubious when I read testimonials as they could have been made up, but no I wrote something on this forum I think and he's just put that on his website so it's a genuine comment haha!

Yeah he's just got a newer bigger unit to operate from and is having the final calibrations done on his new rolling road at the minute, looks as though it'll be good!

I haven't yet, no. Hopefully I will do next Friday but depends if its all done or not. If not i'll get it on them when its all sorted :)

I'm looking to get my 1.2TSI remap done by Celtic Tune in Cornwall as they seem to be the only ones near me. £360 for a generic map gives 105 to 125hp according to their data. They come to you at home or work so must be via ODB port. I have heard that the standard car is more than 105hp but probably as much to do with dyno calibration and 105 could be a minimum for mass production.

if i were you i'd go in to get it on the rollers then if needed they can tweek the map to get best results and i would think it's an ecu out job

That's incorrect. They can be mapped through the OBD port and I can get it done near me for £225 he has done a few now. He says they should get around 130bhp but are coming out at 144bhp on the rollers

Early MED17 can be mapped through the obd, later have to have the ecu out and the electronic signature turned off but it's really hit'n'miss on which can be done though what method.
