LED number plate bulbs??

Bought a pair of canbus led bulbs off ebay and they dont work in the number plate holders, is there a specific type i need with the number plate bulbs not having wires?

could anyone link me to a set that they know works?

my front canbus led's and canbus hid's all work so it just threw me really.

The newer Leon's are picky, I fitted the full assembly - bought it off eBay.

I bought some for the interior of mine and have fitted them with no issues no error etc and you can get number plate bulbs from them also

Drizzle/Darren.. Any issues with these bulbs, errors etc.. And was it a straight fit, plug and play.

Unclip the standard holders, and refit the led assembly. They come with resistors so no bulb out issues.

This is odd. I just bought a set of bulbs and the sidelight ones are fine. However, the numberplate bulbs throw up a 'bulb out' error on the dash. Have emailed the supplier to find out whats going on.

It's not the led bulbs at fault.

It's because on the MK2 Leon and a lot of VAG cars, the reg plate lights are wired up in parallel.

So the resistors built into the LED bulbs get halved in value and take the total value below the point that the car is happy with. It then throws the bulb fail error.

You will probably find that each one will work OK with no errors if there is one LED and one normal bulb fitted.

Do some searching, some people have posted links to reg plate LED's that work fine. They obviously have higher value resistors built in.

If that's the case then in my view, they shouldn't be sold as part of a Leon specific kit which they expressly say will not generate a fault warning.

True, but they shouldn't be expected to know the wiring in's and out's of every car on the market. Those LED bulbs work fine in most other cars because the reg plate bulbs are wired up in series.
