Hi, all SCN members!
I was to Repsol shop today and asked what oil do they recommend for 2.0 TFSi Cupra 2007.
They answered that better will be 5w40 fully synthetic Repsol Elite Evo
Then I said that mates from SCN recommend 5w30 and they replied that for our climate temperature range (-20 on winter and +25 on summer) better and CHEAPER :confused: will be 5w40.
This Repsol Elite Evo 5w40 is VW 502.00/ 505.00/ 505.01

Are they right?
At first moment I thought they want to sell out depositary

According to the manual you can use either, they both work in the same temperature range

I've seen at least one person on here using 5w40, not sure if there's any advantage to it
 
Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't it be vw504 spec?

I always use the castrol edge 5w30 as its cleaner to prevent carbon build up.

My local VAG specialist said they stock valvoline same grade as vw quantum long life that I was looking for? What do you reckon?

I ran a 50:50 mixture of 5w30 and 5w40 Castrol Edge with no issues. Got the 5w40 cheap from Costco and had a couple of liters of 5w30 left over. Same brand and spec. I wouldn't mix and match normally (5w35???:lol:)
Ran fine with no issues for 2 years on my MK1 Stage 2.

you wont stop carbon build up in the TFSI engine , no oil on the market can reduce it , its just a trait of the design.

I was recommended to use 5w40 for a mapped car or if standard keep to 5w30.
 
Ive owned my tfsi for 7yrs and for the first 3yrs when serviced at a SEAT garage they were using 5w30.. But in the last 4yrs they are putting 5w40 in my car, I did ask them why but they said dont no, thats what there computer says to use :lol:
 
I was told that the reason the "Experts" :confused::confused: suggest blending of oils should be avoided was that different oil grades have different additives so a 5W/30 castrol and a 5W/40 castrol for instance - may not mix to give the same protection (that's additives not oil operating thickness) as you would have a diluted concentration of some of the protective things ---- :( I'm rambling but I thought I kind of knew what he meant !!!!!!
anyway if in doubt stick to manual recommended specs, they seem to now what theyre doing and have greater knowledge than me - obviously :rofl::rofl: as I Is :whistle::whistle:

:) As bigbadjay said - Ask opie oils they have a section on the forum. the oilman is awesome and will explain the benefits of each oil specification :)
