I have had my Leon cupra for about 4 weeks and was looking into a remap.. I did have at 1.9 astra before with a plug and play box which seems so much easier and can tweak it yourself.. But there seems to be alot about remaps on here and am a bit confused to if there any good and are there any pros/done to them.. Always does anyone know a good place to use as I live about 40 miles from hull in Grimsby.

I'm afraid I don't know tuners in your area but for diesels there are numerous options. I too used to have a 1.9 Astra CDTi (modified by 888)...however I ran with the DTUK CRD2 box if I recall and I'm sure Andrew@DTUK can supply a box for your current car too...check them out ;)

DTUK are a great company and Andrew is a great bloke too...the only downside with diesels are the egr/dpf issues I believe?! Which with a remap can be eliminated (I think)...hopefully some of the diesel owners will point u in the right direction

Superchips Bluefin sounds like it would be ideal for you. It's a handset that you use to upload a map to your ecu via the diagnostics port. The map is already on the handset and all you do is plug it in and it uploads it to the car. If you want to take the map off again then just plug it back in. It's really simple and easy to use. The superchips remap is decent and you will notice the difference straight away, it's not as aggressive as remaps offered by Revo or APR but obviously it means its easier on the drivetrain and engine etc. Revo and APR are the maps which produce the most power and there is nothing between the two, but with APR you get a system where you can change maps via the cruise control stalk. Revo have a device which allows you to change parameters like fuelling and timing but it does have optimal settings so I'm not sure how much use it is on the road unless your tracking it. All maps claim over 300hp.

Ahh sorry I read that wrong. There are numerous tuners for petrol engines like ours with remaps but not heard of many petrol tuning boxes tbh

There are other independent companies that offer custom remaps like p-torque and S.hark, which are cheaper and designed around your car but do not produce the most power.

What's the reason behind a custom map not making similar power gains of say Revo/apr or amd?

Another decent reputation custom company is R. Tech too by the way mate

Revo/APR spend tens of thousands of pounds in development work to extract the maximum from the engine, something which an independant can't do.

thanks for the replies guy will look into some of them see where is near to me.. need it mapping or something because for some reason my old diesel astra felt like it moved off quicker than this cupra maybe to do with the high torque..
come across a place in hull called eco power tuning if anyone heard of them remaps start at £200 but that for an eco one which aint an option not going to better the 23mpg by much
