Darkside do them as well, as for the light I think they do but not fitted one so couldn't swear to it either way.

I've got one fitted to my 53 Plate 130 TDI Sport and it threw up a EML.

Quick scan with VCDS showed a P0401 - Insufficient EGR Flow detected.

I've mapped my EGR valve out myself and show far I've had 1500 miles and no EML :)

Probably going to throw my EGR Valve back on to return my ASV as the engine shutdown is pretty rough :(

My post from another EGR thread;

Pros

- Stops the inlet manifold getting clogged up due to the exhaust soot mixing with oil from the breather and causing tar like substance.

- Slightly responsive in the lower revs due to the cleaner burn.

Cons

- Diesel engines by design are quite thermally efficient so engine warm up time takes longer due to the lower combustion temperature.

Myths

- People claim that removal of the EGR raises Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGT) at Idle which trash the Turbo, however, the EGT are a lot higher when the engine is revving and when the EGR valve wouldn't of been operating anyway.

With regards to the EML, you could get it mapped out by a tuner on a Stage 1, very simple, took me 15 mins in total :)

Yeah I've done mine, although I don't have rough engine shutdown

How did you map it out yourself? Vag com?

I turned mine down over the weekend using VCDS and I must say you can definitely tell the difference in low revs. It used to feel like it was going to stall, but now it's really smooth.

There's a guide here which tells you how to do it via VCDS. I had to set it at 33638 and not the 33768 as stated in the guide.

You can turn it down via VCDS, however, if you removed the EGR it would still throw a EML as the MAF measurements won't match.

33638 was the highest I could set mine originally so I did a little research and got a Galletto 1260 and WinOLS and mapped the EGR out myself.

You got a what?

I want mine mapped out, i know it can be done with a remap but ideally i dont want to remap it just now as the expense of a clutch kit isnt viable yet.

Anyone in Fife that can do it?

Galletto 1260 is a device that can read/write the map from your car and WinOLS is a remapping software to edit the map and run checksums to ensure you don't brick your ECU.

Ah ok, sounds a bit in depth to me. Ive actually already got VCDS on my laptop that ill attempt to reduce the EGR values with when i get the car back!

Sounds like its well worth doing!
