Replacement lights...which ones??

Hey folks this could be a stupid question but in that case i hope someone can help me! I have a 1.8 20V FR 56 plate and i want to change the lights (sides, dipped, full beam). I wanted to go for the philips Bluevision side lights and osram nightbreaker plus for the headlights.

Had a look at my user manual to try and find out what kind/part number of bulb i need and I'm getting confused. How do i know if i have single or double beam? I presume if it's double beam i need to buy 2 sets of the osrams (one dipped and one full beam)? I also tried the online model selectors for halfords and osram and they seem to point to the h7...which would suggest double beam right? Although on the osram site it says h7 for full and dipped but in the double beam part of the owners manual it says h7 dipped and h3 full beam which doesn't seem an option on the osram site :confused:

I've attached a photo of the page from my owners manual and also a piccy of my front lights.

If anyone can give me any guidance I'd really appreciate it! Cheers! :)

Hello mate - you have a double lamp unit so you will need h7 for your dipped beam and a h3 for your flasher (main beam)

I would recommend getting some 501 leds for side lights ! They look stunning and will not blow ! They use a fraction of the power a standard filament bulb uses ... However they may not match with yellow bulbs - I had diamond vision on my FR

for roughly £240 you can get a set of projector headlights with RDL's like i have [B)] excellent light output and clean cut-off pattern

then just use 55w hid kit for dipped beams and get decent high beam bulbs

Cheers for the info :) Will have a look at the leds when I get on the pc later. So far for the philips and osram bulbs that I've looked at Amazon seems to be cheapest. Don't really want to fork out 240 quid at the moment :( I just want something that gives a whiter light than what I've got... while staying legal of course ;)

these are down to just over £200 on ebay..im gonna get a set soon..

just gutted as i bought new genuine oem headlights just before crimbo last year.

yer, i was a tad gutted as just after i bought mine i found sets a bit cheaper...but i was happy with the outcome

make sure you get them professionaly aligned by a MOT garage, I had SEAT do it for me for no extra charge when i did my service

To change the bulbs?

No. Open the bonnet, look behind your headlights there is a cap which is held on by two metal clips.

Move the clips to the side, and pull off the cover. You'll see the bulb is held on with another metal clip. Move that and swap the bulb.

Max time 5 mins :)

If your fitting sidelights too, then it'll take a little bit longer than a few minutes, just because they are a bit of a fiddle to get out.

Won't take too long though!

Still need to get some photos taken but the lights are in...went in pretty easily...just the passenger side was a bit tricky due to lack of space for hands etc! Will get a piccy next time I'm out in the dark :)
