Boost issue/ running issue

youhave also said you are getting a Lambda sensor bank one fault. This could be your issue, when you get higher up the revs the lambda could be reading incorrectly due to the fault and jumping your car into some form of limp mode. clear the codes try again and if it comes back replace the Lambda

I would change all 4 coils for good quality reputable ones, and replace the plugs, checking the gaps and see if it solves it.

The coil stick fitted was a valeo. Which in the past have always been pretty good for me,and its literally just been serviced before i got it, plug gaps are not really that crucial on modern cars, (as pretty much most spark plugs come ready gapped) but i see what u mean as its one less possibility :) cheers dude

Cleared the codes, ran up the road for 10 mins, came back and plugged it back in and there were no codes present. Had on the emissons machine and all the fuel settings show spot on. If its lambda sensor code tk me that would possibly suggest an air leak?

Plus get vagcom on it and check the response of the lambda and see what your fuel trims are doing.

Yea going to do a smoke test just to be 100% :) , and I have a snapon solus which tells me all the stats of lambdas and AIT sensors ect.... so I will take a look at that later on as well.
Pretty sure that will do most things that vagcom will? Its just really weird how intermittent it is .... cars!!!!!!!!! lol

The quality control on the gap of plugs can leave a lot to be desired. A proper gap gives a proper spark. A run of the mill n/a car won't blow out the spark easily, opening the valves to 20+ psi can..

For an example to explain why plug gap is important: NGK BKR7E (and also almost all) plugs fit A LOT of engines.. Not just vag 20vt. The chances of the gap being correct for the correct application is slim. It may be more or less than the gap specified by VW AG to run on a standard 20vt. Which is an engine with notorious problems surrounding coil pack failures.. Which can be brought on prematurely by a coil overworked to produce a spark over a larger then intended gap.

Doing research into the appropriate tried and tested plug gap and plug, for your power range as when tuned the requirements change, is well worth doing. And spending 30 seconds before fitting the plug to check its gap is never a bad idea.
As you said, it is another 'one less thing to worry about'

another thing to note:

If its recently had just one coil due to failure then the rest are very likely to follow suit. Best practice is to replace all at once as They don't always completely fail!... They start to breakdown internally, producing a weaker spark (made worse by incorrectly gapped plugs) which can give different symptoms to a complete failure. Like loss of power but not misfires and many others. Pernickety cars!

I don't know about the solus. What data can it view? And does it have the appropriate labelling so its not just a gibberish of numbers?

Is it able to view all 255 blocks of info possible from the ecu? Each block containing 4 different values? i.e. rpm, mass air flow, injector on time, and ignition timing?
Code modules and view information from everything? Airbags, stereo, central convenience module etc etc?

From what I've heard from lots of people and places is vcds (vagcom) is the best for vw ag group cars.

Yea it can view quite alot of data from the ecu, it can change settings like vagcom (if you have the codes to adapt things) like the total closure function i know you usually have to use vagcom to change these ive personally not used it for that but i knoe its possible as when looking at the codes last night i could see a option for this. And yea you can access engine managment, airbags, transmission, brakeing system, dashboard computer and so on. I reset the TB on it the other night and i know people always say you need vagcom for that, but when you spend 2-3k on a diagnostics machine you would expect it to do little things like this :) haha i will take a pic of the values and graphs that it gives readings for and upload them so you can have a look. You will probably still need vagcom for certain things but this does all the basics and quite abit more. If i need vagcom i can soon get it off mate :) ile still probably get vagcom aswell though lol but ile let you know what the graphs and so on look like, from memory there pretty easy to read and work out whats doing what..

It graphs the readings but im pretty sure it says the figures aswell if you get what i mean? Yea definitly worth getting though as it looks like a better layout with it being on a laptop :)

Being on a laptop and it gives you the data for the numbers.. Even vw dealer one just gives you numbers and your expected to look it up in the service manuals! So defiantly has that going for it... And a few other things... Easy the best tool I've bought in over a decade!
