You get the colour dash with the tech pack, which comes with rnse, have a look on Audi-sport.net there's loads of guides on retrofitting the rnse system,

Well i've taken the plunge and purchased the RNSE.

I just need to purchase the removal tools now and I should be good to go.

I'll keep you posted how I get on.

RNS E Up and Running.

Hi all,

Well I finally got my RNSE today.

Fitted it no problem. There's a definite improvement in sound over the standard adagio device.

Only problems I seem to have is no navigation in DIS.

Apart from that, everything else works okay. I put the satnav receiver up behind the glovebox and the signal is fine. I also have the sound from my USB connection in the glovebox. Haven't tried sdhc card yet.

Anyone in the South Wales area with Vagcom that can help me with my DIS?

Thanks,

Congratulations, I knew you'd be pleased with your decision.

Disappointingly, at least for me, sdhc cards don't work. I believe only cards up to 4gb work (i.e. not high capacity)

Two 16Gb cards in mine, and they are fine. One Duracell and one Sandisk. Way, way better than shuffling CDs all day.

I think it depends on the model. The earlier ones only go up to a maximum of 4gb.

The newer models go up to 32gb.

Hi,

Was yours factory fitted or retro fitted? And do you have the multi coloured DIS?

Unless you've got the colour DIS then you will suffer from this problem
It will all work - but you may find that when you enter a route the navigation instructions will not appear on the DIS unless you turn the RNS-E briefly off and back on.

I say may because some people with newer cars and newer RNS-E versions do not have to do this.

You will see this referred to as "the red DIS bug".
Audi never fitted RNSE to vehicles without the colour DIS and therefore never bothered to fix the bug.

Well I got myself a hex can cable and vcds and i've switched on the nav info on this dis.

I'm happy to say there's no red dis bug on the exeo, maybe its a newer model dis on the exeo so its not affected.

So apart from the cooling fan still running in the rnse after the ignition is off (which I suspect is a wiring issue) everything is now working perfectly. The nav display in the dis is a really cool feature by the way, and well worth the hassle of sorting out.

480 for the rnse and 40 for the hex can.

520 total.

Hi, I've got a 2010 Exeo Sport 170 with the standard audio system and I've found the front speakers to be ok with decent bass response down to 30Hz (thanks to my iPhone tone generator app!).

However, the rear speakers sound quite poor in comparison, with no bass below 60Hz. I would be interested to hear what other owners think about the standard system and whether a a Bose speaker upgrade plus subwoofer could be worthwhile on the rear speakers?

I've taken the setting the fader control fully forwards, as this sounds fine on just the front speakers. I did wonder if the amp in the boot that controls the rear speakers is set to send bass to he (non-existent!) subwoofer instead of to the rear door speakers....any ideas please?

I would upgrade the amp first, then decide if you need better speakers. The standard amp only powers the rear speakers, unless you have the bose upgrade (and hence a better amp) which also powers the sub. It's the amp that is poor. I have a bose amp and sub, but I've never fit them as I don't have a wiring diagram, or the patience anymore.

They'll probably end up back on ebay...

Hi Loonyjuice,

Thanks, that's helpful. Interested in selling the amp and sub? If so, please let me know ;-)
