I've a Leon which has just turned a year old on Friday and just passed 11,000 miles. yet the air con isn't blowing freezing air out! when i put it on its the same temperature as as lowest setting on the normal blower! just wondering has anyone else had this problem on their car? surely a year old car shouldn't need to get the air con re gassed at that age? and i hardly ever use it  any replies is much appreciated Thanks.

Mate it's a common issue. I've owned a 60 plate and a 61 plate leon - both have needed new compressors. They will be replaced under warranty, it's not just a simple regas.

Also hardly ever using it isn't a good idea, I think they tend to have more issues when they haven't been used at all.

As Jarre say's , it's a common issue, failure on one of ours was a pressure switch , car was about 14 months old iirc.

It could be a faulty pressure switch which would stop the system working? As it's still in warranty, just take it to the dealers to get them to run diagnostics to see if there are any fault codes logged.

As Jarre mentioned, it's not good for the system if you don't use it for long periods.

Ha! Simultaneous post with kazand.

i regassed mine in work the other week it had never been done and there was 5 percent to much gas in it :/

I made a thread specifically about this.

I had too much gas in mine from the factory, had it regassed, and decided to google the effects of having too much gas in the system.

The answer? It leads to an AC compressor fail. I'd suggest people make sure they get a regas with the right amount of gas.

The other common problem is that nobody uses it over winter. If you don't use it, the seals don't lubricate properly and can cause leaks. I believe an AC service is recommended every couple of years to make sure your compressor is in good working order, to check that there are no leaks, and to refresh the refrigerant in the system

Here is the thread.

+1 they shouldn't make mistakes like that makes more hassle for the customer

thanks for all the replies, still ridiculous that a car of that age even needs to be looked at but the cars booked in to go see the dealer today so i'll let you's know what happens later today. its hardly used apart from demisting the windows and also i only use the car a few times during the week as ive other stuff for work and weekends so maybe lack of use is a factor.

Update on the aircon issue! it was as kazand said a pressure switch! they had 1 in stock so they changed it and regased the system. it would freeze the balls of a brass monkey :coolthumb thanks for the help guys.

Glad it was sorted :) my first leon had the pressure switch done, it worked for a couple of days and then the compressor broke too!
