AirCon Pipe???

Hi there,

My AirCon is leaking gas so it needs to be replaced, I got the part already...Any tips?

It's for a 2.0T BWA/BWJ engine Petrol

So far, I been told the job is PITA and side engine mount needs to come off but yea very fiddly any more you can add?

Rip it out, remove the core and pump, put on a shorter belt. Enjoy higher performance, lower timing pull and chillier intake temperatures

I like my aircon ... - Any advice Al on removing this pipe??? please

To be honest, having been in the front of the car do rip mine out, its not gonna be straight forward. However if you take off all the gubbings over and under the engine, it should be do-able.

How do you know its that pipe thats leaking and that you dont have a hole in the radiator?

Air con is a nice to have feature but a rolled down window is doable and you get lots of side benefits

My engine mount bolt snapped (lower!), causing the engine to tilt forward whilst I was driving home (after giving the car a harsh gear change...) the aircon pipe was rubbing on the alternator belt which then causing extreme wear on both components

There is a rubber section on this aircon pipe, and that's the part that got rubbed down (located just under the Turbo, roughly)

Dogmount bolt was replaced and it's fine, need to replace the alternator belt and lastly the aircon pipe... hoping that's the only damage left (fingers crossed!)

I will at some stage lose the whole aircon system...

So far, the twintake is off completely, going to remove the side engine mount and unbolt all the various clips, I have elsawin (very good software) just a PITA!

I can't help with advice about fitting the new pipe, but I strongly recommend you get a new receiver/drier as your system has been open to the air the existing drier will be saturated. If there is moisture in the system when it is gassed it reacts with the gas and becomes acidic and corrodes the alloy pipes and the condenser.

I would only assume the machine would remove any existing gunk in the system away before it loads the fresh gas in... Sadly because of Rainy week, I am unable to work on the car!... However thanks for though, pretty sure my air con and I should remove the damn thing...but err I'll keep it basic and get the leon back on road first (I got a garage for the complete AC delete in mind heh)
