Id say id not be far behind a 210 lcr or mapped 180 cupra

Wish i still had the log of my old mk4 golf tdi! 267bhp and 380lb/ft! Only got a pic of the bay if that helps

Am i one of them?

A bora is hardly a " these days" derv nor is the pd engine (the actual thread question) a modern diesel engine.

You seem to be, yes.

I apologise for the 'these days' comment, it is an old engine and not particularly refined.... so -ahem- does it make it easier to swallow that an old & unrefined diesel is really rather impressive in a tuned state when pitted against a tuned LCR? ;)

Mines a pd150 fr+

The video I posted shows the flaws of a diesel vs a petrol.

Also my answers are based upon the thread question.

Diesels are deceiving; they feel a lot faster than they are. I had a mapped Fabia vRS with around 180bhp and 310ftlb (PD130) and moved from that to a 1.8T MK4 Ibiza Cupra. The Fabia felt MUCH faster, when in reality they were pretty similar.

Like some one above stated gear ratios have a big affect like a maped ibiza pd130 mapped to 175bhp
Vs a standerd pd160 ibiza Cupra the Cupra would still take the drag even through the pd139 would have more bhp more torque and same waight but a diffrent ratio.

Too Meny things come into drags to tell but the tdi is very very underestermated these days

Mapped 180 1.8t with 210bhp

A mapped lcr would piss on a mapped 150tdi

The 180 mapped would be a close call!

I've had a drag with my leon tdi at 198bhp with a tt225, and there was nothing in it on the go (4wd loses)

My last car was a golf gt tdi 130 remapped to 180 and was fast, now I have a stock lcr 225 and I would say from 30 mph onwards it would be pretty close, if anything the golf would have it. Quite dissapointed in the lcr thought it would be a lot more than it is.

A standard LCR would destroy a mapped PD130

I went up against on at York race way a few weeks ago but somthing on its engine have way on the track so it didn't finish I was very upset I did race a mk4 r32 golf and beat that up the strip then my final and thrid race lost to a dam D reg nova red top :( :( in my stage 1 ibiza Cupra tdi

It's peaked at around 2.5 revs and drops off, the cupra line is quite straight till 7k so holds power without dropping out

Your looking at the wrong line!

Thats the torque line
The Bhp line is gradual and builds up throughout the rev range!

Still holding 280lb/ft at peak bhp which is impressive

And to my eye my old octy used to tail off after 5k (which the graph shows) although this is due to running the standard downpipe, but for a mapped 180 stock and a mapped 150tdi stock its a good comparison to what you'd get

I'm yet to be convinced! I managed 42 MPG on a long run at 75mph so more than happy. If I did loads I would probably switch back to the dark side.
