hmm.. was thinking of DSG next as im selling up soon but might need to reconsider!!

Haha. Don't get me wrong mate. This whole thread is comparable to me complaining about a loose stitching on a brand new Ferrari F430.

I'd still have the DSG any day of the week. Its just too quick and smooth not to love it. And, amazing for cruising. Can you drink a Starbucks while driving through town? Hehe

...hypothetically speaking

Having come from manuals and after driving some slushbox automatics on a few occasions the DSG is something else. Now that I've been driving with a DSG for a few weeks I certainly wouldn't want to swap it for one with a manual box.

When i went to visit my mate james23parkin I took him for a drive and he owns a mk1 LCR and even he was surprised by how smooth it was. Best bet is just go for a test drive and after an hour you should be decided to if you want to stick to manual or come to the DSG world

I had my CR170 mapped and never had any issues.

With DSG if you pottle about like an old man then it'll shift early and keep the revs low.

If you drive a little more briskly then it learns and will hold the revs more.

To be fair mine probably needs a reset.
Forgot how to do this. Electronics on, throttle pedal all the way down for 10 seconds or something?

I have a manual, When I'm doing 30 and I'm on a flat road it will sometimes request 5th flashing on my dashboard in a really annoying way.

If I'm doing 35 it will change to 6th.

The economy is phenomenal but if you need to start moving away (even slowly) the deep noise of the engine winding up is horrible and the torque is probably reaking havoc on the rest of the components.

I pretty much ignore the gear selector now. I'll only use 6th 40+ and anything below that I'll be in 4th.

Exactly this. The fact that your gear indicator is telling you to shift at these awkward points does at least confirm that it's a stupid programming error.

Splendid, my mind was pretty much made up anyway.
Cheers
Has anyone ever had a map done at rs tuning in Leeds ? Or heard any feedback about them ?
Apparently there my nearest for a revo map.

Heard the name. I think they're on the list of "good tuners" :) along with Shark (also not too far from there), Big Fish (bit further north), etc

Stg1 Revo is about the same as stg2 in other places, so should be good. I've seen some really nice curves from Revo on the CR170.

I might switch over at some point to see what they can do. Now that my tuner protection had been disabled it can all be done via OBD

:) I love the DSG 90% of the time... Sometimes a little jerky 1-2-3 when pulling away in between 'Grandad and boy racer' modes and as Mr Shnazzle says, the kick down can be a little slow in D - so i always over ride rather than wait for kick down :)
30's? Ha you young scamps....

We lack Grandad Darth's "experience" :) hehe
But us new-age kids know how to party.

Party...that's a social gathering where people get intoxicated is it not?
Hmm...yes...quite

I do that sometimes but i wasn't sure if it could upset the gearbox by been in D then manually going down a couple of gears to pass someone then letting it go back to auto.
And by upset i mean break .
