Hi, my pd130 really struggles to start once the engine is warm. First thing in the morning it will go straight away, anyone else have this?

Thanks

Its likely an issue with the map in combination with a slow starter, most tuners will offer a 'hot start' fix. The issue is caused by the starter not hitting at least 280rpm when cranking the engine with coolant temp of 70 degrees c or above (or 250rpm between 20 and 70 degrees c).

I have had this problem, seems somewhat more muted now, and have changed the temp sensor to no avail so that isn't always the fix. Let me know I'd be interested in what cures yours.

Mate, check you have the correct rating of battery on the car. My old Octavia TDI always went fine from cold, but when warm, it would sometimes take as long as 10secs of cranking before it would start. With a more powerful battery (of the correct rating) it was spot on afterwards

Good idea! I shall have a look sometimes when I try to start it the clocks all reset and my trip counter goes back to 0! Though it might be the 6 dial clock problem!?

Same thing my sisters having with her 130 fr tdi. Scanned it and it came up with camshaft position sensor - intermittent.
Have u scanned the ecu for fault codes?

Not yet I can't find my lead I'll see if I can find it and have a scan. More bhp offer to fix a known hot start issue during a remap so I'm going to ask them if it's a common problem as I think mines got a bad map as it was already done when I bought it with no proof of where it was done

Its not a bad map problem, this issue is also there in the standard map as well.

When you find your VCDS, make a note of the ECU part number and post it on here? Also, not sure if this will work, but check at what speed the starter is turning the engine over when its cranking (when you experience this issue) - Anything less than 280rpm when the coolant is above 70 degrees c and this will likely be your issue

I'll be in Birmingham overnight on 30th/31st December and should be able to sort the map fix for you if it is your problem
