Does anyone know if you can use VCDS to make the LED running lights stay at full brightness when you put the dipped lights on?

Or is that a dumb ass idea for reasons beyond me?

Probably. I had a little read and they have to dim but I think they dim to 9-12% so maybe you can adjust it up a bit so that you can see them.

PLease don't do this. Get out of the car with the DRLs on at night. They are bright. far too bright to have on at night. Its probably a step up the nob ladder from driving around with fogs on.

I don't understand why they dim when you turn the sidelights on.

Sidelights = Make the car more visable in dimly light situations where it is not yet dark enough to need headlights.

Seat's impression of sidelights = make the car more visible from behind and less visible from the front by toning down one of the coolest parts of the car aesthetically speaking.

It would be awesome if we could make it so turning sidelights on let the front drl's on full and put the sidelights at the back on.

The logic is that when it's dark they don't need to be as bright as in the day to be seen. My issue is that they dim to 9% so you litrally can't see them with the dipped lights on and as sidelights only they are dimmer than old style 5w halogens.

I'm sure I can figure it out.

Aren't they just! I used to always upgrade my 501 bulbs to 10 smd led bulbs that were nice and bright, shame the leon takes a stem back on that one.

And on top of all this look at the amount of cars that were designed in the last few years that have DRLs that are the same brightness all the time, no mater what tje headlines are doing......

I've had a read up. They have to dim but there are no rules as to how much so the mercs you see with the drls in the bumper probably dim a few %.

The guys over at a5oc have figured it and 30-50% seems good without distracting people or obscuring turn signals.

Think someone needs to move this in the how to section.....

I like the idea of being able to turn the brightness up on sidelights mentioned on the audi forums....

The DRL's dim when the indicators flash anyway. TBH, I can't see it being a big problem whether they dim or not with the headlights. If you look at this video the DRL strip is still quite distintctive when the dipped beam is on.

You can disable that. That vid is in complete darkness and the camera exaggerates it. I'm going to program 30% with no dimming on turn signals.
