I've had my Leon for 4 months now and although I love the car, I am very disappointed with the build quality. Rattles are my main concern - I seem to have the same issues as others on here (instrument binacle, door cards, dash). Today I discovered a rip in the drivers seat in the corner where the side bolster (on the lower part of the seat) is stichted to the flat of the seat - seems to have happened as you get out of the car and therefore pull a bit on the bolster. This shouldn't have ripped after 4 months. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm starting to regret going to seat now.

Mine is perfect except for occasional A-pillar rattles on rough surfaces. Seems to be more pronounced when the car is cold. It has been around or below zero since I got the car and I am wondering if it would be better after the winter ends. Once the interior gets warmer it kind of disappears. Have you experienced this and if so, do you think it is a cold temperature issue which would self-fix in the summer? I just don't want dealers to try "fixing" rattles because I don't want them to mess with fits and panels to simply worsen the rattles.
Is it a stress rip in the leather or a surface 'scuff'? Leather doesn't seem as hard wearing as it once was. I used to pro detail and did a lot of leather recolouring on BMW's, range rovers etc. it's easy to wear the colour off or scratch leather too. For example jeans are pretty abrasive.
Yeah my MK is 2nd hand, bought on 98k off a guy how maintained it by the book but didn't really care much for it cosmetically (had moss growing on the window rubbers). But I have no rattles at all ( occasional flapping noise from climate) but the trim whilst hard and cheap looking is very well put together. By contrast my mini and BMW looked lovely and posh, but the mini was very vibey and the BMW had boot rattles. Had both from near new, R56 mini and E91 Beemer. God knows what are 240 ecoboost ford S-Max will sound like at 100k lol.

Well it may be rattle free, but it is now in the bodyshop because some girl not looking has done the back quarter, and bent the back suspension in!!!!!!. Not happy, and driving a 59 plate auto Ford Focus now!!!! Which incidently is full of bloody rattles
My drivers side A-pillar trim rattles when its very cold, but as soon as the car warms up it disappears. When I first picked it up, there was the odd creak from the passengers side somewhere, but that seems to have gone away.
Mind you, I'm coming from an Astra H which rattled, creaked and groaned like you wouldn't believe.

Hi All, I have the half leather / leatherette interior on my FR and my Drivers Seat developed a small split at the seam where the side bolster attached to the front section that is just below the backs of my right knee and I just had this replaced under warranty. I am also rather disappointed with the lack of advancement in build quality given how much the interior design and finish has improved from my old 04 Cupra Tdi. I have all of the rattles you have listed and I'm starting to hear an occasional low speed / resonance type rattle. When I collected my car after the warranty replacement I was talking to one of the technicians and he said he is expecting a service / epwarranty replacement to be issued for the a-pillar issue as it is so common.

Hi Robo6, they didn't repair the damage they replaced the entire bottom section of the seat. I have photo's of the damage before the bottom section was replaced but they are on my laptop and I am away at the moment sorry.
