Looking for some feed back , we have just bought 14 plate 1.2 tsi ibiza fr I now it runs at 105 bhp but just looking to see if anyone or is it worth having it re mapped ? Views please ??
Ive got a 12 plate 1.2 tsi fr with a remap and it runs at 130bhp with 189 lb ft torque. But as stevo said there isnt a remap available for later models (that i know of)
Just had Robbie 'turboboy' drake fit a TMC to my 1.4 yesterday and wow what difference the car now just pulls in every gear and I've managed to knock a second of both 0-60 and 1/4 mile so far
Ohh yes lol, to be honest it really easy to fit took Robbie 5-10mins to fit and I'm the same as you with engines so I'd say it would take 30mins top all you do is disconnect 3 plugs and use the TMC to create a loop (TMC has 6 plugs) and then using double sided tape or cable ties to secure the actual TMC box/controller.
Bit of a trek as he's near reading lol, have you not got the instructions as it shows the engine and where the relevant plugs are. If not could always pop down to me in notts m1 jct25 and we could go through it together as I watched Robbie fit mine so I knew how to take it off when I eventually go for a custom remap
To me or reading? If you mean me then let me know when you fancy coming down as I normally work shifts but I'm working all next week for training. If you mean Robbie for a real trek I can let him know to contact you to sort something out
As far as i've been told the 1.2 doesn't have an intercooler so can't be mapped or the excess heat produced will use up any power gains? i've got a 63 plate
11 registration, early 2011. I doubt that any turbo would be much use without an intercooler since the air entering the cylinders must be reasonably cool in order to keep the efficiency up.
It's basic thermodynamics - the compresssion in the turbo heats the air up and it has to be cooled down again.
