Right any help would be a big help....

I've got a 2008 57 plate seat leon fitted with the standard headunit, ( mines pre-facelift ) I've just purchased a seat rcd310 that was in full working order....

I've swopped over the main plug in the back of my headunit and I've tried using different 10 amp fuses and its not the fuse, but the Rcd310 will not even power on....now I've read that with mine been the pre-facelift model that the ( safe pin, pin 16 will need a direct power feed adding ) does this sound right???

I've had a look on various threads and from what I've read the safe pin thingy seems to be the issue, but I'm no expert on these things so any advise would be a big help

Has anybody done this??????

cheers

Yeah think that's right. I know I had to swap some pins over and connect a second live into the head unit. That was on a rcd 510 though

Cool im having a go today so hopefully this safe pin thingy should give it some power then...can you remember which wire you ran your live feed off?

Racking my brains to be honest. Im sure I just took a wire from the live on the cars harness and plugged it into connector. I'm sure there is an easier way. Just as long as the safe pin gets power it will power up.
Was a while ago that I did mine then swapped it for a kenwood ddx 4925dab. Wish I had stuck with the rcd510. Easier to use and not much difference in sound quality

If it is the same as the RNS310, it requires a permanent 12v feed on Pin 16 which the pre-facelift Leon doesn't have the wiring for.

So you basically need to splice a 12v wire and connect it to the SAFE pin.
J400uk did it using a paperclip, but I bet there are more 'mainstream' ways to do it. :D

 Indeed, and someone out there now has a used 08-plate Leon with a radio wired in using a paperclip!

But yes its just a case of splicing the connection from pin 15 to pin 16. I did take some pictures last year but can't find them now.

paper clip eh, mine does have a red wire going into pin 16 but theres nothing there with the multi-meter, so to try it my dad and I ran a live of the positive battery terminal and pushed it into pin 16 and it worked hey presto....

So now I know its got power I've put my old headunit back in whilst me and my dad figure out which live terminal we are going to use using pin 15 mite be the simplest idea...

I'm waiting for my new double din fascia to arrive @ the mo.

Have you got this fitted yet? Any problems with battery drain? Any chance you could upload pics of how you solved the pin 16 issue. I've got an rcd 310 waiting to be fitted but not sure how to do it.
Lastly, is it possible to put an aux cable in the back of the unit? Thanks.

As to the battery drain I dont think mine will have it as its an 08 57 plate which I believe meansit doesnt suffer from battery drain??? But I could be wrong..

Im fitting it all together this friday so I'll post when its done.

I put mine in last night just to check I could get it to work. Managed to get it working, more luck than judgement. Just need to get the fascia, aerial adapter and aux cable and I'm sorted. Unless it suffers from battery drain. Although I have a new can gateway ready just need to find someone that can programme it in for me.

Did your Aux port work ok when you plugged it in???

I've posted a Aux pin assignment list in a different thread to try and find some answers?

Its call Headunit upgrade

My car is a very basic 06 model that didn't even have aux to begin with. I have had a play with the headunit and found an option for aux in it. So I have assumed it should work of with an adapter I have ordered from eBay. Can update you once fitted.

Right my rcd310 is going in on friday and my car ( which is an 08 57 plate ) now I know that pin 16 ( safe pin ) needs a power feed, I use my Aux port alot which is the standard factory one down by the handbrake from what I've read it isnt going to work once wired in to the new Rcd310...

What wiring do I need to re-root/alter in the back of the block that fits into the head unit please?

Is it in the same block as were pin 16 is? Whats involved do you have to add a wire or do you have to move the Aux wire to a spare pin ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. ..

Right I've been doing some Ebay hunting and is this the page that explains what to do with the Aux wire re-rooting? I've linked to two pictures that show what goes where, but some help off a member would be a big help to explain which wires need changing.????/
