SFS oversized Tip onto AUQ.

Hi all....is it really the nightmare job some people have stated, fitting the sfs oversized tip to the 180bhp AUQ ?
Some comments i have read in various posts have put me off buying one....

Unbolt the hard coolant pipe, it makes it easier, then enjoy

So i assume the coolant pipe fixes to the side of the engine block.....its a case of unbolt it and leave it unbolted then ?

It's a ******* to do...took best part of an hour.
Make sure you put your jubilee clip on the bottom as your fitting it and remove the bolt from the coolant pipe it makes it much easier.

Ive been driving around with the pipe unbolted for more than a year now.

SFS TIP is quite hard to fit, especially if you havent placed a silicone TIP ever before . When doing it with a mate it becomes much easier, one above the car and one below the car.

I did it myself, sweared a lot the first time (OEM > Toyosports TIP) haha

As other people have said, it is a right pain in the arse to fit. I invented several new swear words whilst fitting it and the neighbours kept giving me funny looks for a while afterwards!

Im trying to fit an oversized tip now. Couldnt do it the first time wonderd why it wasnt fitting. Was pised of had to pit it all back together again. So now im hear again right this min trying to fit it again. Ive unbolted the hard pipe so now to try fit the tip. Having a fag break then gonna try. One question tho with the tip rubbing on the metal hot water pipe will the tip not melt? This is a proper sfs oversized tip.

No issues here and I've been running it for almost 3 years, you'll probably need an extension as well from TIP to Filter if you plan on using the heatshield.

Done it mate if you look on the thread, what have you done to your car today? You will see I done it lol thank god car sounds and feels great, was about to give up then it went on haha

Also I put the clip on the bottom but couldn't tighten it, luckily I got a long screwdriver and pushed it over the lip, the clip was already tight I just had to push it over the turbo lip

Shouldn't be a problem with it touching the water pipe, the turbo itself will get much hotter than the water pipe ever does. Did you have to bend the water pipe a bit? IIRC you have to give it a bit of a bend so it doesn't nip the TIP. Well worth the hassle IMO, turbo definitely spools quicker and gives a bit more turbo noise.

No didn't have to bend the pipe atol, took ages to get the tip in tho, think once the rubber softened abit it went in lol, couldn't tighten the jubilee clip tho, it was tight when I put it on, I just pushed it over the turbo lip with a long screw driver, the water pipe should push it on tho as its very tight again the tip what do you think?

I havnt gave it the beans yet as I'm abit scared the tip will blow off, do you think it's fine?

Why can't you tighten the jubilee clip? is it inaccessible? There shouldn't really be any pressure in it to blow it off but I would want it securely held on, more because if it does come off its a pain in the arse to get back on again and it risks the turbo inhaling stuff that may damage it when it pops off.

Mate im 6f 3 and have hands like a shovel lol it is pretty tight round the lip anyway so cant see it poping off. Have noticed im using alot more fuel tho if its the tip thats causing it it will be coming right off.

! It shouldn't make any difference to the fuel consumption, if anything I would have thought it might improve slightly as the engine can breath more easily.

Ill see as thats another £25 ive just put in it so ill give it a week to see if anything changes. May just need to readjust lol

squeeze the pipe kinda like a pancake between the water pipe and the engine block push it right down get the top of the pipe over the turbo....but force it down it is a pain id admit and ive removed it many times.
with the jubilee clip open it up fully and then place it over the pipe, hold the clip in place with one hand and screw it in with a long flat head of a 8/7mm socket.

Yeh I got mine on mate took to days to attempts lol clip was tight so pushed it over the turbo, I have massive hands and couldn't get to it lol
