Is this spare wheel ok for my 2.0 2010 FR?

I can't post links yet hence doing it that way.

The Ibiza I'm buying doesn't come with a spare wheel. I'll get an inflation kit free from the Seat dealer but they've quoted me £129 all in for a new steel spare with tool kit and tyre. Cheapest I can find the Seat one online is £130 plus delivery so £129 seems an ok price given I'll save delivery, but is the above item ok? Would rather save £50 if I can- my other half isn't too far from that seller so we could collect it

Or if someone knows of a cheaper option that would be great!

The ebay number does not show anything - item not found. I think there is a digit missing.

Could I buy something like this (281464139871) to put the tools in? Would still be cheaper than the £129 from the dealer. Or is that wheel a complete no go?

I'm only buying it to 'get me home' if I have a blow out. I'll have an inflation kit if it's a minor puncture, hence why I'd rather spend as little as possible getting a spare wheel so would this one 'do the job' so to speak?

That won't work either - The wheel fits OVER the battery when it is in the boot so there is no space inside it for a tool kit holder. The tool kit in a TDi with rear battery is held in a special moulding that also lifts the boot floor by about 50mm.

Ok, so I basically need the genuine parts from Seat? If so, I guess I'll have to go with the £129 option as I can't find it cheaper, although I could just be patient and try and get one from a breaker- would it need to be from an FR or would it be ok from any 2010 onwards ibiza?

The wheel is not the problem - most wheels will fit.

Storing the jack and tools is the issue - and I don't think the storage box will come with the official wheel from the dealers.

The 2.0TDi FR should have come with a spare wheel - all seat's over 140bhp should have a spare wheel.

It was advertised with a spare wheel on autotrader and on their site, but there isn't one there and the guy I was dealing with just said it must have been a mistake on the listing and that they don't come as standard and I don't want to keep calling up and come across badly (already called about a couple of other things)

I've not got the knowledge to argue back and I don't know if they're obliged to supply one if they're supplying an inflation kit for free instead.

Thanks for that link- I remember seeing some of the tools there, so I'm just going to wait til I pick the car up on Friday, see what's there and pick up what I need off ebay/breaker. I don't want to spend money now on say a wheel and tool kit to find the tool kit is already there.

It states quite clearly in the 2010 brochure & price list that a space saver spare is supplied as standard on all cars over 100ps.

If seat have decided the car needs a spare wheel then the wheel should be supplied with the car.

Is there a copy of said brochure anywhere? I did a quick google and couldn't find anything
 
The issue I see here, being completely disconnected from this issue is, the car is secondhand and sold at a price, the seller could claim that what is missing is balanced out by the ticket price. I'd think that there was only ever one time to hammer this out and that time would be before you placed a deposit and signed an agreement. If I was in your shoes, and it is not a Seat dealer that you are - no forget that, try to go now to your nearest Seat dealer's parts department and ask for a print out of the CAR DATA for that car, that document should list any options fitted to that car which should hopefully clear this "did it - didn't it" originally have a space saver spare wheel, with that information under your belt you should be able to reason with the dealer that there is bits missing. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that the pervious owner, removed these parts for their next car, or the dealer did that!

One last thing, that tyre inflator + gung to seal the tyre, if the leak is small enough, will seal the tyre, but it is meant, I think to be only a temporary repair - please understand that that tyre will now be scrap as tyre places will not waste time clearing that gung out and repairing that tyre.

So, yes, even after buying all the necessary bits, if that is what it comes to, you will be able to sort out a puncture a lot easier.

OK thanks for your input. It's a proper seat dealer I'm buying from, but I don't want to ruin the relationship as I get a year's warranty and should anything need doing I don't want to turn up and them to think "oh great it's that guy" and do a crap job.

If it was a brand new car, it'd obviously be different but I think being second hand changes things slightly. I'll wait until I collect it and see what bits I've got- it was still a good price irrespective of the wheel.

EDIT: Having contacted a Seat dealer and Dave from Sere, they have both said a spare is not supposed to be fit in this model. If someone goes into the back of me, the battery could absorb some of the impact and get pushed into the wheel, potentially shorting out. Seems logical, but also still strange that my brother has one and the pics in the link posted above show one fitted yet the Manufacturer says it shouldn't be (one of the Seat dealers sent me a screenshot of his system read out)

Well Dave from Sere has a very good reputation on here, but then he was only giving me manufacturer advice so even if he thinks it's OK, I guess he can't really recommend it as it's not what Seat say.

I've seen the screenshot that another Seat dealer sent me and it does say not to be fitted with a spare, but the dealer I'm getting the car from is happy to sell me a spare so who knows!!
 
I've just had a thought,

when you get it take a list of the codes on the sticker in the boot. There are web pages that decode the VAG options list.

The code you are looking for is 1G1 that indicates a space saving spare wheel was fitted when new.
