I purchased my Leon 2.0 tdi 184 back in march this year. I had the full leather package included at the full price. Being an ex biker I knew my leathers and it was clear to me that only the centre part and the perforated part of the seats were leather. I checked with the dealer and they were sure it was all leather as the brochure clearly stated that it was all leather. Seat UK eventually agreed that it was not all leather and after a period of negotiation refunded me the full leather package price. I know they have since changed the wording in the brochure but it may be worth an enquiry.

Good result that, I know from past experience it is poor quality and failed me a number of times resulting in timely complaints and 2 driver side pads and 1 passenger side pad, the car had only done 9k miles as well.

I must admit that leather seats are about the last thing I would specify.

What's so special about having leather seats? Modern synthetic fabrics are far more hardwearing and comfortable.

Must admit, I have had Alcantara and heated leather seats in my last two golfs. I don't honestly see any point. My current Leon 1.8 TSI FR has normal material bog standard sports seats which are very comfortable. They, A) Do not make your back sweaty like Alcantara does in summer, and B) Are not roasting in summer, freezing in winter like leather.(heated seats take time to warm up!). But hey, if we all had the same tastes it would be a boring world....

Because in the Cupra they have a ridiculous white stripe round them..... Hence why I specced leather.

I was the same about the white bits until I saw one in the flesh, changed my mind a bit.
Although I must confess my GF's flat refusal to have leather was also a deciding factor.... ;)
It is 'her' car after all......

I can see that it is a matter of taste (or possibly smell) but apart from that I cannot see any practical advantages for what is a considerable outlay.

Yes, you get bragging rights, but I would rather have an alternative option for the same money. If you want to spec it up to the hilt then I guess you must include leather.

I had a BMW M635 and a Porsche 911 in the past, both with leather, but it didn't do anything for me apart from being cold in winter and too sweaty in summer.

Nice job on the refund, I'm not surprised by the lack of "real" leather the 280 demo I test drove had leather I was really unimpressed by it.

Artificial leather is probably best, as in BMW, Mercedes, etc., however SEAT offer only fabric, Alcantara and leather. Fabric doesn't look good in my opinion and is awful to clean. Just pour a coffee on the leather and on the fabric and see how they cope with the cleaning ;) Alcantara is not bad but I hear it wears badly and is not that stain-resistant. I am very happy with the leather in my Leon. I would have loved to have artificial leather though.

I was about to say the same about cleaning leather being much easier - same with a sofa, fabric looks nice but you can't beat leather for cleanability :)

My golf has full leather and I must say I refer the feel of the Alcantara in the leon but they both have pro's and con's.

Regarding price, leather normally comes with heated seats so that's part of the cost, along with leather door cards etc (maybe not in the Leon tho).

think the Leon leather feels hard and artificial anyway! Mine had it (pre-reg) but I would have specced it anyway for resale and keeping it clean. Fabric is a nightmare for liquid stains.....
But it's not very soft and luxurious, is it? my daughter's Mk5 Golf GT has leather and it's much softer in that....

With regards to liquid stains on material seats....A) know where your interface is..B) Drinking and driving!..C)Don't be such a barista coffee victim!

I'm not a fan of leather seats (in cars or generally), mine's got them as it was specced with them, and the winter pack that comes with them is almost essential so it's not all bad news.

My grandkids are not allowed to eat anything in my car, never mind a drink (except non spill baby bott)

The only thing I drink in the car is powerade which has a resealable cap. Food is for eating at my kitchen table! If you want to eat in my car and make a mess be prepared for hands and knees time!
