Anybody got these headlights noticed the same thing?

I have the factory bixenon headlights and noticed the bulbs are pretty poor, I find it hard to see things, and when their next to my dads bmw's projectors they look like sidelights.

Do I need new bulbs is there bulb upgrades available? have no idea what im doing with HID's

Have you had the beam alignment re-set by an MOT station ?
Perhaps they are too low.

I have a 2010 FR TDi and I noticed the same I actually struggle to see when compared to my old CTR halogen lights (and they are notoriously bad!).

I have not yet got round to adjusting them but yet check here, PM me for a guide and I will send it over :). (I can't post it as I haven't got 15 posts under my belt!)

The bulbs in the Ibiza are 35w xenon also.

I've got stock Bi-Xenons and they seem to be fine but that is on a Leon and not an Ibiza.

Bear in mind that xenon bulbs do have a finite life and get dimmer with use & age so maybe this is the issue.

What year is your car and have the bulbs ever been changed?

No worries I can't do much either until I hit 15 :D

Google the following and click the first link...... audizine bi-xenon vcds

Have a read and let me know if you need a hand.

They do indeed, also the auto-leveling sensor is mounted to the back on most cars fitted with bi-xenons (some on both front & rear) so when you lower your car it will have a huge impact.

You can read the current values using VCDS for the auto-leveling, adjust the height using the white dials on the headlight housing and then re-read the value and then set this as the new "base value".

Thanks for posting the link my friend! I should now be on 15 posts after this hurray .

Yes the bulbs could be burning out but normally a tell-tale sign is discoloration (pink, blue etc).

I am severely underwhelmed by my bi-xenons on my 2010 car considering it took me months of searching to find an FR with them and the winter pack.

My lights seem bright enough but they do not throw the light far enough in front of my car when travelling, I understand that xenon's have a sharp cut off due to the nature of their brightness but I now use high-beam more often than I did with my old 2002 CTR.

Your bulbs are probably coming to the end of their life. Xenon bulbs have a lifespan of around 2000 hours. I would expect you to see a noticeable difference if you replace them with new bulbs.

I wish you hadn't said that... mine are coming up to 5 years old.

Time to find some decently priced replacements  - thanks for the help.

£75 a piece

You can get them cheaper if you don't go to a dealer. The part number is N10566103 and they're just standard D1S 35W xenon gas discharge bulbs.

If you do a search on Google or eBay for the part number or for "D1S 35W" you will find some for much less than £75 each. I would stay away from any Chinese or no-name bulbs. Always go for a reputable branded make such as OSRAM or Philips.

I've seen an unbranded set on DX for £23.50 a pair delivered - at your own risk I say! :)

I'm not sure what the OEM colour is (i.e. 4000K, 6000K, 8000K etc.) so also keep that in mind if you want to keep the original colour. Maybe someone on here knows what colour the OEM xenon bulbs are.

There are bulbs on eBay going for ~£60-80 a pair delivered (Philips or OSRAM).
