Just had a look at my discs as i was checking over my 280 and noticed that all of my discs have lots of spots of rust all over them.
Pretty sure it didn't look like that when i bought the car last week.
My question is, is there anything I can do to cover up the rust as it looks awful. I'm assuming the dealer who i bought from must have put some stuff over it so that it was easier to sell.

If you are talking about the area of the disc where the brake pads contact, it is normal for rust to form overnight or if the car has been left for a while, as Simonali says above it will be removed when you drive it.

If you are talking about the inner and outer edges and the hub area, where the brake pads don't contact, these will rust to in time. My advice would be to give them a lick of paint. I clean mine and paint them as required in the spring while I refit the summer wheels.

Here are mine after a bit of TLC recently.

How do you guys paint the discs, do you remove them or can it be done on the car? And do you mask up to get the finish and edging right, Biker yours look very good!

Thanks mate!

I paint mine on the car, I don't mask anything up just take care....lol

But any paint you get on the main area of the disc is soon removed once you use the brakes a few times and you get the nice defined line.

I only remove the wheel and use a brush, admittedly i was in a rush when i did the one in the photo, they look much neater now :D

+1 for Hammerite , did last FR & R, it's on my to-do list for the Cupra , I even painted the ones on my work motor coz they look appalling!

awesome, ok hopefully its just the rain caused it and will bugger off when i go for a drive :)

thanks guys. I dont think i feel comfortable with painting the disks. surely that affects the braking ability of them!?

whilst i would pay good money to see someone paint their actual discs, have a closer look at your wheels and the photos above, its the centre hub surface we're talking about, if yours isnt rusty yet it will be in about a week or two. Annoyingly the likes of Merc paint them from factory, after speaking to an old merc mechanic this came about due to soooooo many old fuzzy duddys complaining to merc about the rust and getting them done after under warranty, no such joy with the VAG however they will just tell you to go :censored: ya self :D
