Knocking sound in the driver door card

I had this for few months now but it was something I could live with as I used to hear it three or four times on my 15 miles journey to work. But now it became very annoying and I get it at every single road bump or pothole.

Whilst I am inclined to take it back to the dealer and ask them to sort it out, I am worried that they may mess it around and get the annoying rattles almost everyone is talking about.

Do you guys have it too? What did you do? Cheers.

Mine is worse in the passenger side, not a knocking noise but a high pitch vibrating. It done my head in on a 3 hr drive to/from Wales at the w'end. I wish I could drown it out with extra volume on the stereo but that just causes a totally different vibration from the passenger side speaker area.

I did however notice that my car was very quiet yesterday on the drive home from work, not a single noise and the stereo was problem free too. I wonder if the temperature had caused trim to expand so there was less room for things to rub(?) Drive into work this morning and the noise was back!

I'm now soundproofing the doors and boot as I've had enough. FFS the car is barely a year old!

I am sure there are other noises which I can hear. I am hear impaired (moderate before you ask) and I absolutely hate going outside of a building with my hearing aids on... Too bloody noisy :D

Do let us know how you get on! I wish I was as skilled as you :)

My 280 rattles like crazy at times. Gotta take it up to the dealer and see what's up.

Does anyone here have the same? Some coming from the dash area, some from the doors.

The Perspex of the instrument panel can creak and is subject to a TPI as are the door cards on some builds, my first Leon went in for both the latest has had the Perspex sorted.

If it's a not right take it in and stand your ground if you get the runaround, I had a Passat that the service manager kept insisting had been fixed until I virtually rammed him in the car and took him for an enforced drive need less to say it worked.

I cut my teeth on two diabolical brand new Passat's nothing will ever seem be bad again.

On a more amusing side I was in a garage today where a bloke brought his Dacia in because all of the panel gaps weren't aligned, he wanted to know if they could do something about it! He was told if you pay £8k for a brand new car you can't expect too much go and try a body shop. Harsh but very true !

Indeed. I have had my share of woes with the dealership, but all have been sorted. Just a pain to have to start again. But oh well...

It seems to be a common thing with Seat dealers.

My Cupra is booked in for the door card issue. My passenger one rattles quite a bit. Happens on a lot of 2014 cars according to my local dealer.

Does that mean SEAT have solved this issue on 2015 models - any recent owners with views on this?
im guessing not. i can hear a rattle and it's not the sunroof. that doesn't rattle, it creaks on uneven roads. when i tap the driver's door card, top edge near the side mirror you can hear it knocking onto metal. car's booked in at the dealers in two weeks to have these looked at and the sticky hazard light switch sorted (or bodged). will see what happens.

Oh dear Jim

That's a shame to hear you still have rattle issues with your 2015 model - let's hope your dealer can fix them to your satisfaction

im not holding much hope, the rattle is worse around tight right-hand bends and roundabouts so im waiting for a "sorry we can't find it" reply. i used to be able to stop the roof creaking by pushing down on the rear of the glass from the outside but that doesn't help any more besides it means every time i open the roof i have to remember to repeat the process lol

Try this around the sunroof rubbers it's stopped mine creaking ... it's a common problem with any sunroof

thanks for that, i'll see what happens after it's been looked at. it was creaking from the second week of owning it and the car's only 12 weeks old since the build date. i did think a squeaky seal against the paintwork but it's only along the rear edge. never had a problem with any other sunroof'd car although this is the first where the glass opens above the roof line rather than slide inside it.

OK, I'll add my ST to the list of creaking noises. Mine comes from the driver's side (LHD) door card.
it seems the noise is more present with warm temperature, but is still noticeable when cold.

The car is 1 month old and I'm a bit disappointed as the FR is still rattle free after 2 years :(

The bizarre situation is that it's not present at constant speed, but each time you accelerate or ease the throttle you hear it... if the car wasn't new, I'd suspect the chassis is flexing.

It is most definitely a door card problem, as it disappears if you push hard on the it.

I'll have to bring it down to the dealer and see what they say.

I managed to find what caused the knocking sound... Funny enough it was nothing to do with the door cards... It was the back seat belts that were banging on the plastic edge (stupid design idea if you ask me) of the back seats.

I'm going crazy... my ST creaks only when temperatures are above 25 degrees.
It looks like it will take some time to sort it out by looking out from the window...

Mine has just one week. It's MY 2015. Build week 16. Cracks are present. In both doors. Mine is SC and as I see here it's common problem especially with the 3 door body. It's strange sound like sand or something loose just shaking and flipping in the doors. The problem is that music can't cover this because the source of noises is just near the ears and the speakers are mostly in front of us :/.
