Hi, Ive got a 2.0 tdi leon 07 and im just looking around at various remaps. Im looking on ebay and the bluefin is around £350.00 but you can get a diesel chip from DYNAMIC DIESELS far less for around £75.00 which adds around 30 hp all you do is plug into common rail sensor and it has a few settings.

Should i avoid these remaps and go to a garage which change your ecu for around £250.00?

any info much appreciated, Thanks :D

I think an 07 plate will be a PD engine and not a CR.

To be honest I would not be fitting a tuning box iny opinion' I'd be going for a well reputable remap from the likes of

Shark
Revo
R-tech
Big fish tuning
Unit9remaps
More BHP
Unicorn developments
Eco tune

I desperately want to remap mine but I am not prepared to gut the DPF (illegal) nor do I want excess smoke from the exhaust when pressing on (tell tale sign).

I will just have to change the car if I ever feel I simply must have more performance.

Get the DPF done properly, removed cut open on the factory seem welds and then welded back up, no one will ever know, even all pressure sensors and so on are plugged back in and looks untouched, the only way anyone will ever know is to take it off cut it open and there won't be anything in side, that's the way I do it, I can on you a link to loads of pics, as for smoke and good remap' you won't really get any smoke even under load, I know some do mind due to a less quality map

As an mot tester I have no way of checking the contents of a dpf shell. neither has any other mot tester shy of removing it and cutting it open.

Devil's Advocate and all that, but would an insurer check to see if it has been removed or gutted in the event of an accident if there was cause to suspect that it might have been removed?

Dont go for the ebay special mate, its cheap for a reason and most likely something generic, go to a reputable company as listed and have it done properly. Make sure your car is running properly and clear of any faults before the map or at least take it somewhere that will do a full diagnoatic and before and after rolling road check to have it specific to your car.
