Strange noise while accelerating @ 1500+ rpm??

When ever I accelerate at engine speeds over 1500 rpm there's a wierd noise. I would describe it as a faint metal on metal grating noise.
It doesn't matter if engine is warm or cold, it's always there. The fast I travel the louder it is but always comes when engine under load. If I cruise at 2000rpm it's not there but as soon as I accelerate its there after a couple of seconds.

Is this normal? Does any one else's do this?

Sounds like the noise I hear in 2nd under hard acceleration might be in other gears too but notice it in 2nd more over 3k revs. I'd say it's a higher pitched noise though more than metal on metal.

Possibly I can't quiet describe the noise so you may be more accurate than mine. Would you say this is normal characteristic of the engine then?

Seems that way have you tried hard acceleration in 2nd see if the pitch changes like mine does I can only hear it with windows up radio off in silence basically.

I'm getting it checked over when the vw specialist can fit me in I will report back then give you more of an idea

Cant hear what I would describe as a pitch change. But yeah I can only hear it with windows up radio off etc. Not even sure how I first noticed it.

Keep me updated on how you get on with the VW specialist. Might try and get mine looked over by Seat while I still have a bit of manufactures warranty left.

Update for you Dave, nothing wrong with my car, to be fair ive not had it long about a month and owner before might of used supermarket diesel... I only use v power plus shell diesel and since used lucas injector treatment and the noise has some what gone. The vw/audi/seat specialist could not find anything wrong.

At what revs does the turbo kick in? It maybe something to do with the turbo coming into play.

Same situation as me then mate. Mines booked in for Tuesday after bank holiday so see what they say. Atleast then its logged with main dealer so if any issues do arise from it after the warranty has expired im covered

On my Exeo I have a noise that sounds a bit like Darth Vader breathing a feint KKKkkcchh when I lift off in 1st or 2nd gears... It could be described as a coasting noise like you could get from a transmission, but it doesn't sound like a noise to worry about (if you know what I mean). I was wondering whether is was sympathetic vibration from the aluminum heat shields near the DPF ?

I would love to know what it is though. Do you think the noise I describe could be like your cars noise ?

Ditto to caldi, I have this.

Mine's under warranty still so when I get some time I'll be taking it in for them to look/fix (it's also twisting slightly but that may have been my fault..)

Hi rich sorry for the late reply, been a bit hectic lately.

When seat dealer looked it over they said it was just normal engine noise and nothing to worry about. They checked got fault codes and raffles from under the car but all seemed ok.

At least it's logged with them now so if anything does happen out of warranty I may have a fall back
