Can anyone recommend a good phone holder, preferably one that fits to the right of the steering wheel? I just plonk my phone in a cup holder in my current car but I'm getting a new 1.4 FR in a few weeks and noticed there isn't really anywhere suitable in it.

While I'm thinking about it, how is the satnav compared to Google maps or Waze?

Pop on to the BRODIT website

They do active ( charging ) and passive ( just a holder ) brackets plus car specific mounting clips.

The one that fits to the LEFT of the screen is actually pretty good - puts the phone in perfect view and quite easy to run the charge cable in to the glovebox or back to the power socket in the arm rest

That does look good :) Where does the charge cable plug into in the glovebox and do you need to modify anything? Mine will be a lease car so I can't do anything permanent to it.

I've always used Brodit holders and found them to be great.

This one fits to the right of the steering wheel - you just need to choose the dedicated holder for your phone.

Ah yes, that's where I wanted it but there is the issue of where to put the power lead I guess.

Charge lead plugs into the USB cable from the glovebox. No mods what so ever as it can be removed easily without leaving any marks.

My issue is I wanted it plugged into the IOS adapter so I could play my tunes directly from my iPhone 6 but the non-apple cables that run from the glovebox, won't fit into the Brodit mount as its designed specifically for the Apple Lightning cable. All the others I've tried have been bigger at the Lightning end. Ended up just putting everything on a SD card and doing it that way.

Great, thanks for the info. I don't suppose you know what kind of mA output you get from that USB port do you?

Think its enough to charge a phone but not a bigish tablet (iPad for example). Don't know for sure though...

^^^ Kenu Airframe, I'll never use anything else ever again. They're small, neat, well constructed and don't look cheap and nasty

Could you use a USB coupler or something to connect the Apple cable to your other one?

Looked at those and although they are tidy - I went with the Brodit because as soon as the phone is in the cradle - it is also charging - or linked directly to the car via the usb.

Yes the Kenu one does look handy but I'd prefer something with power built in.

I use a magnet one, I was really surprised at how strong it was tbh, and it doesn't mess with signal or gps either.

They don't look as unsightly when not being used and are also a fraction of the price normally.

What about one of these - http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MD824ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter-02m

official 30 pin to lightning extension cable so you can use the iphone lead from the car to this extension and finally in to the phone.

Nearly bought that but its only 20cm in length so won't make it from the glovebox to the mount. Apple don't do a longer one and the others (non-Apple) won't fit into the mount as the lightning end is bigger than the official Apple one.

I have one of these in my Toledo and its great.http://www.cdslotmount.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2

Even with phone in the right side, and being help at very bottom by holder (HTC One M7) the phone is very secure and I can tap the top of the phone when in the mount and it will not tip back.

I got an Extra grip so I can have both m phone and ipod on the holder, makes choosing music much easier for myself and passenger as they can be easily twisted round, and with them being held right and the bottom of the device the view to the screen is hardly compromised
I understand the Leon has the CD slot below the screen but you can get the grips to hold the device at the top but unsure if it will block any other buttons
