Hi everyone,

Its my first time posting on seatcupra.net. Ive been reading loads of stuff, this place is great!

The problem I'm having is shaking on the steering wheel at 75+ Mph, the quicker I go the more I feel it. Until I get to 75 I dont feel anything. Ive replaced all the tyres with new Kumho tyres, and had the wheels balanced. Before I changed the tyres, they were due replacement (previously Pirelli P7's) I still had the same shake .

Just wondering any suggestions of what it could be? I've heard possibly the drive shaft?

Any info is appreciated.

Cheers
Rob

I've replaced the tyres and had them rebalanced. That's what's leading me to think of something else?

Do you reckon I should try a different garage? The place I go is usually spot on.

Cheers

where do you go?

I used many places and found most of them cant balance wheels at all...

so stuck to same one for years now

I'd get the wheel balance doubled-checked, as mentioned some places just can't balance them. I think it's unlikely to be driveshafts, that's an issue you tend to get with prop shafts on long rear-wheel drive vehicles. However one of your wheels could be slightly out of round if you've hit a big pot hole. If you don't want to pay for any more work, you can try swapping the front wheels with the rear wheels to see if it fixes it.

Have you had the wheel alignment checked?

Also I got my Leon back from SEAT after a service and they hadn't secured the under-tray properly and above 65mph it started the flap which caused major vibration through the steering wheel. Over certain speed with the radio down low you could actually hear the flapping though which made me realise it was this and not the wheels or bushes etc.

I have the same problem. I had my 'tracking' done for 20 quid recently and it hasn't fixed the problem. The garage said I could have my wheels 'balanced' which most likely is the issue but the tracking wont be. Does this sound right? I also asked the seat I bought the car from and they noticed one of my suspension springs were snapped from a visual inspection. They reckon this would be the issue.. Now I know the car's been doing it since I bought it so either they sold it to me with a snapped spring which they failed to notice / they're lying and there isn't a snapped spring / the problem is something else.
