Hi All,

Since changing from my Mk1 to a Mk3 a few weeks have gone and whilst winter is upon us I really miss my sunglasses holder.

Is there a replacement for the mk3 where the handle is above the door?

Thanks

I'm not sure, but there's plenty of storage places in the mk 3. Have you thought about putting them in another place? :p

I've not seen any genuine ones but I've seen a few from the VW range that have been installed by people, haven't really looked into it but Something like mk4 golf holder is available Not sure if the holes line up or need drilling but something to look into i guess.

Installed in mine

Nope, in the UK, RHD. There's no handle on the drivers side to replace with the holder. Its not a straight swap with the handle as the holder uses a screw to hold in place but the car has square holes for wide clips.

There's a sunglasses holder between the light switch an ignition, just a little further down like a mini glove box. At least I think it's a sunglasses holder cos that's where mine go :D:p

Do you got something at the back of the square hole to screw it in?
I used plaster board fixings as I had some lying around, just need to make sure they don't drop behind the hole when screwing it in otherwise they work well and hold the holder tight.

What about the airbag?

Didn't know there were airbags near there?

Curtain air bags.deploy from the edge of the headlining. I realise its handy to have a sunglasses holder , but A. Unless you've arms like a gorilla its nearer to put them either in the centre cubby or in a case in the door pocket B. In the event of any side impact front seat passenger may end up wearing your sunglasses. Permanently. Either that or a 'handy' glass case stuck to the side of their head......

Good points but I don't think the airbag will pull the holder off. If it does then if its not a glasses holder then you will get the grab handle in your face.

Have a look at the YouTube video for Leon NCAP tests. You can see the grab handle, but that is on the original as built fittings. If you have used something different , it may cause issues. It may not, and I hope you never have to find out.
